Disclosed herein a composition comprising a urethane of the FIG.; where hydroxyl or amine linkages on the urethane of the FIG.are functionalized with molecules that contain fluorine atoms, phosphorus atoms, sulfur atoms, unsaturated carboxylic acids, derivatives of unsaturated carboxylic acids, or combinations thereof. Disclosed herein too is a composition comprising a urethane of the FIG.; where hydroxyl or amine linkages of the urethane of the FIG.are functionalized with molecules that contain fluorine atoms, phosphorus atoms, sulfur atoms, unsaturated carboxylic acids, derivatives of unsaturated carboxylic acids, or combinations thereof; and a polymeric resin.
