Abstract

A medical device comprising an access port locator configured to locate a subcutaneous access port located beneath a skin surface of a host, the access port locator including at least one annular ring having first and second opposing ends and a longitudinal access, the annular ring positionable on the skin surface of the host with the first end of the annular ring in contact with the skin surface and the longitudinal axis of the annular ring substantially perpendicular to the skin surface; at least one stabilizing flange configured to stabilize the access port locator on the skin surface, the stabilizing flange extending outward from the annular ring substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal access of the annular ring; and at least one need needle guard configured to shield a hand of a user of the access port locator when the hand is positioned on the stabilizing flange.
