Abstract

A server complex () includes an interface portal (). The server complex exposes () a generic resource locator () pointing to the media content in a generic format at the interface portal. The server complex receives requests for media content () from at least a first client device () to receive the media content in a first format () and at least a second client device () to receive the media content in a second format (). The server complex determines (), from a header () of the request, whether the request is from the first client device or the second client device, generates () a response message () comprising a manifest file () comprising a device specific resource locator () pointing to the media content cached () in one of the first format or the second format, and transmits () the response message to the requesting client.
