A separator producing method includes the steps of: winding up, around a core (), a separator () having a defect (D) detected; and providing a defect code (DC) including information on a position of the defect (D) in the longitudinal direction of the separator () on (i) the outermost portion () of the separator (), wound around the core (), or (ii) the core (), around which the separator () is wound.
