Abstract

The invention relates to bacterial mutants, particularly from, that secrete capsular polysaccharide and methods of purifying the secreted bacterial capsular polysaccharides from culture medium. The extracted polysaccharides are useful for producing vaccines comprising the polysaccharides alone or conjugated to proteins.
