Methods of protecting skin from damage due to cold thermal stress are disclosed. The methods include topically applying a composition that includes anextract from rehydratedcysts to skin at risk of damage from thermal stress, particularly from cold thermal stress or repeated temperature variations. The composition includes a physiologically acceptable medium for delivery of theextract.
