Abstract

A vehicle control apparatus which includes an engine, an automatic transmission, and drive wheels transmitted with the power of the engine through the automatic transmission, the automatic transmission including a torque converter connected with the engine, a transmission mechanism connected with the torque converter, the torque converter having a pump impeller connected with the engine, and a turbine runner connected with the transmission mechanism, the vehicle control apparatus for a vehicle further including: an input shaft rotational speed sensor that detects the rotational speed Nt of the turbine runner, and a control unit to control the engine to have the rotational speed Ne of the engine raised when a determination condition in which the rotational speed Nt of the turbine runner is not raised even within a standard time Tlapsed after the engine is started is established.
