Abstract

Described is a sheath removal mechanism () for removing a protective needle sheath () from an injection needle () of a syringe () in a drug delivery device (). The sheath removal mechanism () comprises a cap () adapted to cover a distal end of a drug delivery device () and adapted to engage the protective needle sheath (), and at least one rotatable cam () adapted to move the cap () in a distal direction (D) away from the syringe () when rotated from a first rotational position (P) towards a second rotational position (P).
