A hot stickis provided for applying a grounding clamp, such as a grounding clamp, to an overhead electrical conductor, such as an overhead electrical conductor. The hot stickincludes an elongate insulating pole, an electric stepper motorcarried on the pole, and an adaptermounted on the polefor rotation about an axis, with the adapteroperably connected to the electric motorto be rotated by the electric motorabout the axis.
