Abstract
A freeze fracture machine () comprises a vacuum chamber (); a sample receptacle () for receiving a sample to be processed and a knife receptacle () for receiving a knife () for processing of the sample arranged in the vacuum chamber (); a transfer lock () on the vacuum chamber () through which a sample and a knife () are introducible into the vacuum chamber () and positionable in the vacuum chamber () by means of a positioning apparatus (); the sample and the sample receptacle () being positionable with respect to one another such that the sample is mountable on the sample receptacle () by means of the positioning apparatus (); and the knife () and the knife receptacle () being positionable with respect to one another such that the knife () is mountable on the knife receptacle () by means of the positioning apparatus ().
