Abstract

The technology described herein relates to a method of generating an encoded output video frame for transmission to an electronic display in which an encoded source video frame is decoded to obtain a decoded source video frame, the decoded source video frameis processed to obtain an input video frame, and the input video frameis encoded to obtain an encoded output video frame for transmission. The method comprises comparing a region of an input video framewith a region of a decoded source video framefrom which decoded source video frame the input video frame has been obtained, to determine if the region of the decoded source video frameis similar to the region of the input video frame, and if it is determined that the region of the decoded source video frameis similar to the region of the input video frame, using a region of the encoded source video frame that corresponds to the region of the decoded source video frame as a region of the encoded output video frame for transmission that corresponds to the region of the input video frame.
