Abstract

A superconducting cable comprises a superconductor, two or more coolant passages including an outgoing coolant passageand a returning coolant passagethat transfer a coolant that cools the superconductor, and a heat insulating pipeinside which the superconductorand the coolant passages are formed. For the coolant passages, by a double structured tube of an inner tubeand an outer tube, the outgoing coolant passageis formed in the internal space of the inner tubeand the returning coolant passageis formed in the space between the inner tubeand the outer tube, the inner tubeis formed between the outgoing coolant passageand the returning coolant passageof a heat insulating material, the superconductoris disposed on the outer circumferential side of the inner tube, and the superconductor is cooled by the coolant that flows through the returning coolant passage.
