A compound and a liquid-crystal composition employing the same are provided. The compound has a structure represented by Formula (I) wherein Zand Zare independently A, A, Aand Aare independently single bond, Z, Z, Z, and Zare independently single bond, R is independently hydrogen, or Calkyl group; Rand Rare independently single bond, —O—(CH)—, —CH═CH—(CH)—, —(CH)—CH═CH—, —CH═CH—, or —C≡C—; n is an integer from 1 to 6; Band Bare independently and, Ris hydrogen, or methyl group.
