Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of turbophoresis and provides a relatively simple and low cost solution for a metered dose inhaler, in particular, a pressure-actuated metered dose inhaler. A metering valve () comprises a valve body (), a valve stem () mounted within the valve body () and a spring element () for biasing the valve stem () in an 'at rest' position. A pre-metering region () is formed in the valve stem () which is provided with a miniature valve seal () at its inlet (). The miniature valve seal () effectively isolates the pre-metering region () from surrounding bulk formulation () within a canister () in which the metering valve () is mounted when the valve stem () is in the 'at rest' position.
