Abstract

A digital microscope has a stationary stand body () and a pivot unit () pivotably mounted on the stand body (). The pivot unit () includes an image sensing unit for acquiring images of objects. The microscope has a brake unit () for braking and/or immobilizing the pivot unit (), and an actuation element () for releasing the brake unit (). The pivot unit () includes a first connecting element () and the stand body () has a second connecting element (). The first and second connecting elements () are coupled to one another when the pivot unit () is in a predetermined zero position and the actuation element () is in an unactuated default position. The connecting elements () are moreover coupled to one another when the pivot unit () is in the zero position and the actuation element () is actuated within a predetermined actuation range.
