A computer system comprising processing circuitry configured to: determine predicted vehicle operational information for a vehicle including at least predicted travel route for a vehicle, a predicted shutdown of a combustion engine of the vehicle along the predicted travel route, and a predicted subsequent re-start of the combustion engine; determine the topography of the predicted travel route subsequent to the predicted re-start of the combustion engine; determine a set ammonia storage level threshold of a selective catalytic reduction, SCR, catalyst arranged in an exhaust after treatment system to the combustion engine in response to the topography of the predicted travel route subsequent to the predicted combustion engine re-start; and control an injector of the exhaust after treatment system to inject a predetermined amount of reductant achieving the set ammonia storage level threshold prior to shutdown of the combustion engine.

Method for controlling at least a part of an exhaust after treatment system of a vehicle

A method for controlling the operation of an exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS) in a vehicle is described. The EATS comprises a main SCR catalyst and a pre-SCR catalyst, a pre-injector arranged upstream the pre-SCR catalyst for providing reductant, a bypass channel fluidly connected to the fluid channel and arranged to bypass the pre-SCR-catalyst and the pre-injector, and a valve configured to control a split of exhaust gases between the pre-SCR catalyst and the bypass channel. The method includes determining the amount of ammonia stored in the pre-SCR catalyst; determining the temperature of the main SCR catalyst; when the ammonia storage in the pre-SCR catalyst is below an ammonia storage threshold and the temperature of the main SCR catalyst is above a temperature threshold, injecting reductant by the pre-injector and controlling the valve to allow a flow of exhaust gases to the pre-SCR catalyst sufficient for transporting the injected reductant to the pre-SCR catalyst for increasing the ammonia storage.

Method for controlling the operation of an exhaust aftertreatment system

An aftertreatment system for a vehicle is connectable to an internal combustion engine The aftertreatment system includes an oxidation catalyst, a first NOx sensor arranged upstream the oxidation catalyst, a second NOx sensor arranged downstream the oxidation catalyst, and a control unit comprising a processor device configured to determine a sensor based conversion ratio of nitric oxides to nitrogen dioxides by the oxidation catalyst from data received from first and second NOx sensor, obtain an estimated conversion ratio of nitric oxides to nitrogen dioxides by the oxidation catalyst from a model, and determine a malfunction condition of the aftertreatment system in response to the sensor based conversion ratio being different from the estimated conversion ratio, and perform a responsive action of the aftertreatment system based on the malfunction condition.

Aftertreatment system

A method for controlling exhaust flow in an EATS of a vehicle. A NOsensor output parameter is monitored. It is determined that the NOsensor output parameter is below a limit. When the NOsensor output parameter is below the limit, it is determined that a first part of the exhaust flow should bypass at least a first area of the SCR unit and that a second part of the exhaust flow should be inputted to at least the first area of the SCR unit. It is initiated that the first part is bypassed and that the second part is inputted to at least the first area of the SCR unit. An amount of reductant that should be added to the second part of the exhaust flow is determined. Addition of the amount of reductant is initiated.

Method for controlling an exhaust flow in an exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS) of a vehicle

An exhaust aftertreatment system for an internal combustion engine includes an outer casing having an exhaust gas inlet and an exhaust gas outlet between which a fluid flow path for exhaust gases is provided, a selective catalytic reduction unit provided in the fluid flow path for reducing nitrogen oxides, a reductant dosing device for adding reductant to the exhaust flow upstream of the selective catalytic reduction unit, and a rotatable mixer device for mixing the reductant with exhaust gases upstream of the selective catalytic reduction unit, an air inlet valve provided upstream of the mixer device for introducing air into the fluid flow path, and an electric motor arranged for rotating the mixer device to create a suction of air into the fluid flow path via the air inlet valve.
