There are provided mechanisms for traffic steering between a first radio access network node and a second radio access network node. A method is performed by a system. The method includes obtaining, for each of the first radio access network node and the second radio access network node, a respective predicted traffic throughput for a wireless device. The wireless device is in dual connectivity with the first radio access network node and the second radio access network node. The method includes determining splitting of transmission of a flow of data destined for the wireless device between the first radio access network node and the second radio access network node according to the obtained predicted traffic throughputs. The method includes initiating traffic steering of the flow of data between the first radio access network node and the second radio access network node according to the splitting.

Traffic steering between radio access network nodes

A Network Node, a Radio Access node and methods therein for handling and supporting Hand Over, HO, in a wireless communication network are disclosed. The method in a Radio Access node comprises receiving, from a Network Node, a VoIP session notification identifying a traffic flow associated with VoIP related to a UE. The method further comprises receiving, from the Network Node, a VoIP state report for the identified traffic flow, said VoIP state report comprising a determined VoIP state, and a prediction related to a time to a VoIP state change. Further, the method comprises, when the UE is a candidate for HO: deciding whether to delay or to trigger the HO based on the VoIP state and the prediction.

VoIP service state aware hand over execution

A subscription adaptation engine computes a network utilization metric for a plurality of resource bins, each resource bin representing the network utilization at a network location within a time slot. A subscriber utilization metric is computed for activities by a subscriber within the resource bins and a subscriber predictability metric is computed for the subscriber based on the subscriber utilization metric and network utilization metric. Subscriber profiling is performed for the subscriber based on the subscriber utilization metrics and subscriber predictability metric and a subscription profile for the subscriber is adapted, thereby enabling service charging based on the adapted subscription profile. The amount of real-time or near real-time signaling needed to show a different price for each location and/or time of a user may thereby be reduced.

Method and apparatus for subscription adaptation

In a system for conveying web content to a plurality of user terminals, web traffic events are correlated to a web page session. A method of operating the system includes inspecting web traffic involved in conveying the web content toward the user terminals for extracting web traffic events, associating the extracted web traffic events to one of said user terminals and to one of a plurality of event types, and building a statistic for values indicating times between two consecutive web traffic events that are associated to the same user terminal. The method further includes calculating from the statistic a deviation for a pair of event types, and correlating the web traffic events to a web page session based on the deviation.

It is presented a method for controlling an autonomous device () of a cellular network (). A method of obtaining information on navigation behavior of users accessing web pages, includes obtaining information on web page sessions and correlating the information of at least two web page sessions for one user based on the obtained information on web page sessions. The method further includes extracting information on links from the correlated information of the at least two web page sessions, and inferring information on navigation behavior of the user based on the extracted information on links and the correlated information of the at least two web page sessions for one user.

A technique for providing information derived from data traffic between a telecommunications network and the Internet is disclosed. The telecommunications network provides mobile Internet access to a plurality of mobile subscribers using IP addresses allocated to the mobile subscribers. Data packets in data traffic are analyzed at an interface between the telecommunications network and the Internet. Each analyzed data packet includes an IP address allocated to one of the plurality of mobile sub-scribers. For each of the analyzed data packets, a subscriber identity is retrieved based on the IP address included therein using an allocation function of the telecommunications network. The allocation function associates sub-scriber identities to IP addresses. Information derived from the analyzed data packets is stored in combination with the retrieved subscriber identities in a storing unit. An access interface for accessing the stored information is also provided.

Technique for data traffic analysis

A method in a network node for improving transmission control protocol, TCP, performance in a cellular network is provided. The network node handles TCP packet transferral between a user equipment and a server in the cellular network. The user equipment and the server are configured to adapt a retransmission timeout setting based on round trip times for performed TCP packet transferrals. When the network node obtains an indication of a handover outage being upcoming for the user equipment, the network node deliberately delays, in a time period preceding the indicated handover outage, a transferal of a TCP packet between the server and the user equipment to increase the round trip time for the TCP packet.

Methods and arrangements for improving transmission control protocol performance in a cellular network

In one aspect of the teachings herein, an Application Function (AF) in a wireless communication network is configured to support online charging for the consumption of content that has been pre-fetched to a wireless device via the network. The AF functionality thus provides a mechanism by which content may be pre-fetched to a wireless device in advance of charging for that content, while reliably conditioning the later consumption of that content at the wireless device on the online charging decisions made by an online charging system. In another aspect, a wireless device is configured to send a consumption request for pre-fetched content towards such an AF and condition its consumption of the pre-fetched content on the consumption response returned to it.

Method and apparatus for online charging of pre-fetched content

A method in an apparatusfor adapting play out of data packets during a handover of a user equipment (UE)between a first radio network node (RNN)and a second RNN. The packets relate to a real-time service application. The UE, first and second RNNs are comprised in a communications system. The method comprises generating at least one message to an adaptation control module. The at least one message is generated based on collected historical handover information and on current handover information. The method comprises further, by means of the adaptation control module, adapting the adapting the play out of the packets in dependence of the at least one message such that radio quality degradation in the real-time service application is controlled.

In one aspect of the teachings herein, an Application Function, AF, in a wireless communication network is configured to support online charging for the consumption of content that has been pre-fetched to a wireless device via the network. A technique for controlling and handling set up of a probe tunnel stretching from an access network node through a core network towards a core network node is described. In a method implementation, probe tunnel set up control comprises determining a First Fully Qualified Tunnel Endpoint Identifier (F-TEID) associated with the core network node and sending a probe tunnel set up instruction to the access network node. The instruction commands the access network node to locally set up the probe tunnel towards the core network node based on the F-TEID.
