Particles each having a sinterable core and a polymeric coating on at least a part of the core, wherein the polymeric coating includes a polymer that can be removed via decomposition by heat, catalytically or by solvent treatment, and wherein the polymeric coating is present in an amount of 0.10 to 3.00% by weight, relative to the total weight of the particles, as well as the use of these particles in an additive manufacturing process such as a powder bed and inkjet head 3D printing process. The particles and the process are able to provide a green part having improved strength and are thus suitable for the production of delicate structures which require a high green strength in order to minimize the risk of structural damage during green part handling.

An iron-based powder metallurgical composition is provided comprising an iron or iron-based powder and composite lubricant particles, with the composite lubricant particles comprising a core of 10-60% by weight of at least one primary fatty acid amide having more than 18 and not more than 24 carbon atoms and 40-90% by weight of at least one fatty acid bisamide, with the core having nanoparticles of at least one metal oxide adhered thereon. Further provided is a particulate composite lubricant as well as a method of preparing such lubricant.

Lubricant for powder metallurgical compositions

The invention concerns powder compositions consisting of electrically insulated particles of a soft magnetic material of an iron or iron-based powder and 0.1-2% by weight of a lubricant selected from the group consisting of fatty acid amides having 14-22 C atoms. Optionally a thermoplastic binder such as polyphenylene sulphide may be included in the composition. The invention also concerns a method for the preparation of soft magnetic composite components.

An iron-based powder metallurgical composition is provided comprising an iron or iron-based powder and a particulate composite lubricant, the composite lubricant comprising particles having a core comprising a solid organic lubricant having fine carbon particles adhered thereon. The invention concerns an improved segregation-resistant and dust-resistant metallurgical composition for making compacted parts, comprising at least about 80 percent by weight of an iron or iron-based powder; at least one alloying powder; and (c) about 0.05 to about 2 percent by weight of a binding/lubricating combination of polyethylene wax and ethylene bis-stearamide, the polyethylene wax having a weight average molecular weight below about 1000 and a melting point below that of ethylene bis-stearamide, and being present in amount between 10 and 90% by weight of the binding/lubricating combination.
