Various arrangements for updating a radio unit (RU) of a cellular network are presented. A volume of cellular signals being handled by a first programmable processor of the RU and a second programmable processor of the RU may be analyzed. A determination can be made that one of the processors has sufficient available resources to handle the analyzed volume of cellular signals. The RU can cause cellular signals to be rerouted to one of the programmable processors while the other processor is taken offline for updating. The update process is performed such that UE in communication with the RU experience uninterrupted cellular network access.

The bearers are paired, such that uplink and downlink bearers for a same application are identified, so that paired bearers are classified together. The bearer is classified by determining which cluster region is closest to points on the label map that are associated with the statistics vectors for a particular bearer.

Embodiments of the claimed subject matter provide a method and apparatus for providing multicast/broadcast information to obstructed user equipment. Some embodiments of the apparatus include a gateway configured for communicative coupling to an antenna. The gateway is configurable to establish a first broadcast/multicast session for receiving at least one broadcast or multicast service associated with user equipment and establish a second session for providing information received in the first broadcast/multicast session to the user equipment. Bearer metrics include radio link protocol (RLC) buffer size information, physical resource block (PRB) utilization information, and transmission burst interval information. The bearers are classified into Type I and Type II bearers. Type I bearers are bearers displaying bursty data transfer behavior, and Type II bearers are bearers displaying a continuous stream of data transfer behavior.

The historical time series data includes historical transport block size information and historical modulation and coding scheme information. Once the mapping function is determined, the mapping function forecasts the average transport block sizes by inputting the future value information into the mapping function. The smoothed transport block sizes and the future value information is then transmitted to an application server and/or an application client at a user equipment to control an operation of an application.

In an illustrative embodiment, the user equipment receives data indicative of position and velocity of the satellite, and adjusts both timing and frequency of the communication based on the position and velocity data.
