Techniques for enhancing performance in Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) scenarios, including techniques for time-sensitive networking (TSN) and 5G wireless network integration. An example method, performed by a wireless device, comprises receiving system information (SI) from a radio base station (RBS) of a radio access network (RAN), the SI being indicative of support for TSN through the RBS, and establishing at least one TSN stream with an external data network, through the RBS. The example method further includes receiving a first timing signal from the wireless communications network, via the RBS, receiving a second timing signal from the external TSN data network to which the wireless device is connected, comparing the first timing signal to the second timing signal to determine an offset, and transmitting the offset to the wireless communications network.

A technique for locating a target tag () using a short range radio based positioning system comprising a plurality of localization components () is provided, wherein the target tag () and the plurality of localization components () are configured to perform ranging measurements among each other using short range radio technology. The present disclosure relates an evacuation management system, EMS, () operative to provide real-time evacuation information for evacuation of a building, triggered by alarm notification (S). Based on determined (S) precise real-time positions of personal ultra-wide band, UWB, devices, as determined by UWB real-time localization system, RTLS, a controller determines (S) evacuation plans being personal UWB device specific in real-time. Based on individual evacuation plans and input from building facilities, real-time guidance information is defined (S) and sent to each personal UWB device, providing guidance to person carrying said personal UWB device, in what direction to move (S), to reach a safe area. Based on localization signals the UWB RTLSA then calculates updated positions of the personal UWB devices and sends to the evacuation management system. It is an advantage that trapped or injured people can be found, even in low visibility areas.

An anchor system for a location system tracks a location of a tag device mounted to a mobile entity using a plurality of anchor devices. The anchor system comprises an anchor cable, a first anchor device affixed to the anchor cable, one or more second anchor devices affixed to the anchor cable, and a power supply circuit. Each of the second anchor device(s) is spaced from the first anchor device along a length of the anchor cable by a predetermined distance. The power supply circuit is operatively connected to the anchor cable and is configured to supply power to each of the anchor devices via the anchor cable. Each of the anchor devices is configured to wirelessly communicate with the tag device, e.g., which enables a remote network of processors in communication with the anchor devices to determine location data for the tag device.

We generally describe a collision prevention system () comprising: a localization system () for determining positions of an autonomous vehicle () and a human (); and a collision determination unit () coupled to or in communication with the localization system (), wherein the collision determination unit () is configured to determine, based on the determined positions of the autonomous vehicle () and the human (), whether a predefined condition for an anticipated collision of the autonomous vehicle () with the human () is met; wherein the collision prevention system () is configured to: lock the autonomous vehicle () if the predefined condition is met; alert the human () for whom the predefined condition for colliding with the autonomous vehicle () is met; and allow unlocking of the autonomous vehicle () to be performed or initialized by the alerted human () only.

A mobile tag for an ultra-wide band (UWB) positioning system, and related devices. The UWB positioning system includes mobile tags, stationary anchors, and a central positioning entity. The mobile tag is a first mobile tag configured to acquire positioning information that depends on a relative position between the first mobile tag and a second mobile tag. The first mobile tag is further configured to transmit the acquired positioning information to another device of the UWB system, such as a stationary anchor or a third mobile tag.

Technique for ultra-wide band positioning

The invention relates to a method for determining, by a scheduler, at least one transmission parameter for each of a plurality of smart meters which each transmit, via power line communication, a measurement report to a control entity. The at least one transmission parameter allows a reporting time for a corresponding smart meter to be determined. The method comprises the following steps: At least one status parameter is collected for each of the plurality of smart meters, the at least one status parameter influencing a success rate of the transmission of the corresponding measurement report to the control entity. For each of the plurality of smart meters, the at least one transmission parameter allowing the reporting time for the corresponding smart meter to be determined, is determined based on the collected at least one status parameter.

The disclosure pertains to determining a performance index related to a performance of a communication service provided in a network, wherein the communication service is usable by a mobile user terminal. A method aspect is directed to determining the performance index by comparing performance information associated with a characteristic location of the user terminal and performance information associated with at least one other location visited by the user terminal, the performance index being indicative of a relative performance of the communication service at the characteristic location of the user terminal compared to the at least one other location visited by the user terminal.

A technique for introducing a real-time congestion status in a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) policy decision in a cellular network is presented. A method embodiment performed by the PCRF comprises the steps of obtaining, from one of a Policy Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) and a database, at least one cell identifier; sending, to a Performance Manager network element, a request for checking congestion status, the request comprising the at least one cell identifier; receiving, from the Performance Manager network element, a retrieved congestion status for the at least one cell identifier; generating at least one of a QoS Class Identifier and a QoS Profile based on the at least one cell identifier and the received congestion status; and sending, to the PCEF, a message comprising the at least one of the Class Identifier and QoS Profile.

Technique for introducing a real-time congestion status in a policy decision for a cellular network

A method and apparatus enabling performance monitoring in packet-switched IP networks such as those configured according to an IP multimedia subsystem, IMS, architecture. Performance is monitored by reconstructing selected control signaling sequences. The control signaling sequences, which are typically executed according a signaling protocol such as the Session Initiation Protocol, SIP, are reconstructed by parsing the contents of monitoring request headers configured, modified, and attached to control messages according to the present invention. The header includes at least an IMS monitoring ID field () for identifying the signaling sequence to be reconstructed, a processing node ID field () for representing the entities processing the messages, and a requester ID field () for identifying a requesting entity. It may also specify a monitoring level () indicative of the monitoring tasks required. The monitoring may be requested by an IMS node, or by an entity outside the IMS.

IMS performance monitoring

One or more embodiments of a method and device taught herein provide for monitoring wireless terminal behavior in a wireless communication network, where each wireless terminal has a defined terminal type. Data describing the behavior of a plurality of wireless terminals in the wireless communication network is obtained. Based on the obtained data, an aggregated severity score for a given terminal type is determined that is indicative of the extent to which one or more of a plurality of performance criteria have not been met by wireless terminals of the given terminal type. If the aggregated severity score for the given terminal type exceeds a corresponding severity score threshold, one or more of a plurality of predefined actions are performed based on the extent to which the threshold is exceeded.

Method and device for monitoring wireless terminal behavior according to terminal type

One or more embodiments of a method and apparatus taught herein provide for the detection of faulty wireless terminals in a wireless communication network. According to an exemplary method, an occurrence of one or more service incidents occurring for a wireless terminal during an observation time period is detected. For each service incident, a service quality score indicative of the severity of incident is determined. A performance metric is calculated responsive to the service quality scores of the wireless terminal occurring during the observation time period. The wireless terminal is determined to faulty if the performance metric exceeds a service quality threshold. A corresponding network node operable to implement the method is also disclosed.

Faulty wireless terminal detection

A throttle device is coupled with a central processing unit in a node for reducing traffic overload in a Next Generation Network (NGN). The device is coupled with a basic throttle with different levels of traffic priority and both are situated between a source node and a target node for processing traffic. When a traffic offer is received by the throttle, the throttle device by provisionally updating the basic throttle priority levels, determines whether to send the traffic offer on to the source node. If the provisional, traffic priority level is greater than a new traffic priority level the traffic is admitted and rejected if the updated priority level is less than the new traffic priority level.
