Systems and methods relate generally to a printing device are disclosed. In an example method thereof, a print job having plain text is received by the printing device. Content of the plain text in the print job is analyzed. The plain text is determined to be for a source code responsive to the analyzing. The plain text is formatted responsive to a template stored for the source code. In another example, a markup language rather than source code is used.

Built-in print formatting responsive to content

A method of retrieving printer error logs from a printer or a multi-function printer with a printer memory buffer and internal non-volatile storage involves receiving a print error. A processor determines if a print error is a fatal error or a non-fatal error. On condition the print error is a non-fatal error, the event log located in the printer memory buffer is printed using the printer or the multi-function printer. On condition the print error is a fatal error, the processor determines if there is enough storage capacity to save the fatal error into the internal non-volatile storage. On condition there is enough storage capacity, the processor saves the event log into the internal non-volatile storage. The user is then instructed to power cycle the printer or the multi-function printer.

Method and apparatus for controlling a printer upon receiving a print error recorded in a printer event log

Methods and apparatuses relate generally to printing device recover. In an example thereof, a log associated with a printing device is checked for at least one print job having an incomplete state for a status of the at least one print job. For the at least one print job having the incomplete state, it is determined whether data input for the at least one print job is for a completely received and fully stored version of the at least one print job in storage of the printing device including in a rasterized form. The at least one print job is restarted using the data input recovered from the storage for the data input determined to be complete and fully stored in the storage.
