A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed for providing modified orbital assistance data to a mobile station to determine its location using global navigation satellite system (GNSS). In some example embodiments, a method for determining a location of a mobile station using orbital assistance data may include: receiving satellite positioning signals from a plurality of GNSS satellites; receiving orbital assistance data comprising a distance between a location on an antenna which is associated with a first frequency of the satellite positioning signals and a location on the antenna which is associated with a second frequency of the satellite positioning signals; and determining the location of the mobile station based on the orbital assistance data and the satellite positioning signals.

A wearable device that can receive a plurality of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) timing signals using an antenna, where the antenna is located in an exterior portion of the wearable device such that the antenna receives GNSS signals at the external portion of the wearable device, without the GNSS signals first passing through an air gap within a housing of the wearable device. The wearable device is configured to determine a geographic location of the wearable device based at least in part on the GNSS signals. The wearable device is configurable to perform underwater dead-reckoning procedures, measuring energy levels during dwell periods, measuring efficiency of swim strokes, sharing wearable device information with other electronic devices, calibrating the wearable device, or a combination thereof.

Devices and techniques for improving reception or compensating for attenuation of GNSS signals during water immersion activities

Techniques for Ultra Wide-Lane (UWL) Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning a mobile device may include obtaining, using a multi-band GNSS receiver of the mobile device: a first carrier-phase measurement of a first GNSS signal on a first GNSS carrier frequency, and a second carrier-phase measurement of a second GNSS signal on second GNSS carrier frequency. Techniques may further comprise providing a position estimate of the mobile device, wherein: the position estimate is determined from a wide-lane (WL) combination of the first carrier-phase measurement and the second carrier-phase measurement, and the WL combination has a combined carrier phase noise that is less than a pseudo-range noise of the first carrier-phase measurement and a pseudo-range noise of the second carrier-phase measurement.

Ultra wide-lane (UWL) real-time kinematic (RTK)

A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed for providing modified orbital assistance data to a mobile station to determine its location using global navigation satellite system (GNSS). The modified orbital assistance data may include predicted orbital information for the GNSS satellites combined with antenna phase center offset data for one or more GNSS satellites. The antenna phase center offset data may indicate an offset distance from the center of mass of the GNSS satellite to a position on an antenna of the respective GNSS satellite. The modified orbital assistance data may be in an earth-centered earth-fixed (ECEF) frame of reference and the antenna phase center offset data may be in a body-centered frame of reference.

Disclosed are a system, apparatus, and method for monitoring integrity of satellites, and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). One or more satellites in one or more GNSS are monitored based on a reference crowdsourced integrity report. One or more satellite integrity metrics are determined for the one or more satellites based at least on signals from the one or more satellites. A position of the mobile device is estimated. Satellite integrity monitoring with crowdsourced mobile device data

A method and system for assisting mobile stations to locate a satellite use an efficient messaging format. A server computes a correction between coarse orbit data of a satellite and precise orbit data of the satellite. A coordinate system is chosen such that variation of the correction is substantially smooth over time. The server further approximates the correction with mathematical functions to reduce the number of bits necessary for transmission to a mobile station. The mobile station, upon receiving the coefficients, evaluates the mathematical functions using the coefficients and a time of applicability (e.g., the current time), converts the evaluated result to a standard coordinate system, and applies the conversion result to the coarse orbit data to obtain the precise orbit data.

Method and apparatus for position determination with extended SPS orbit information

An apparatus and method for providing an improved heading estimate of a mobile device in a vehicle is presented. First, the mobile device determines if it is mounted in a cradle attached to the vehicle; if so, inertia sensor data may be valid. While in a mounted stated, the mobile device determines whether it has been rotated in the cradle; if so, inertia sensor data may no longer be reliable and a recalibration to determine a new relative orientation between the vehicle and the mobile device is needed. If the mobile device is mounted and not recently rotated, heading data from multiple sensors (e.g., GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer) may be computed and combined to form the improved heading estimate. This improved heading estimate may be used to form an improved velocity estimate. The improved heading estimate may also be used to compute a bias to correct a gyroscope.

Methods, apparatuses, and devices for generating one or more harsh or diminished radiofrequency environments relative to a planned route of a mobile device user. In one example, a mobile device user a be routed through a harsh or diminished radiofrequency environment based, at least in part, on a sensor suite of a mobile device and/or based on a user's preferences. Prior to entry into such an environment, various sensors may be activated in a manner that permits position estimation in an absence of SPS based positioning signals and/or TPS based positioning signals.

Methods and apparatuses for location-triggered sensor initialization

A method and system for a mobile station to determine its position (or velocity) and time using a hybrid combination of satellite orbit data. In one aspect, the mobile station combines predicted orbit data from one satellite and real-time orbit data from another satellite in the determination of a fix. The combination can be made to the satellites in the same or different satellite systems. The mobile station can use the real-time orbit data of a satellite at one time period and the predicted orbit data of the same satellite at another time period. In another aspect, the mobile station can use the real-time orbit data to correct the clock bias in the predicted orbit data. The correction to the clock bias can be made to the same satellite that provides the real-time orbit data, or to a different satellite in the same or in another satellite system.
