An optical element for a lighting device of an automotive vehicle. The optical element includes a first portion configured to transmit electromagnetic (EM) radiation therethrough, the EM radiation including visible wavelengths and an ablation process wavelength. Also included is a second portion configured to absorb at least the ablation process wavelength, the second portion being in contact with the first portion to define an ablation process boundary which separates a surface of the first portion from an adjacent surface of the second portion. A patterned optical coating is provided on the optical element such that the optical coating material is provided on at least a part of the surface of the second portion, but not provided on the surface of the first portion.

The present disclosure relates to a light pipe arrangement for complex automotive lighting features. The light pipe arrangement includes proximately aligned light pipes comprising at least one grouping of reflecting facets for creating a striped aesthetic.

A wire-harness device that can be preconfigured for a predetermined automotive subassembly, including one or more plastic sheets wrapped around the plurality of insulated wires between discrete portions forming one or more branches to allow bending at the discrete portions and maintain stiffness between the discrete portions. A three-dimensional arrangement of the wrapped wires can be formed by bending at the discrete portions. The three-dimensional arrangement forms a predefined shape for positioning against walls of a housing of the subassembly in an orientation for connection at predetermined locations of the subassembly. A pair of straps are wrapped around the plastic sheet at each end for holding the plastic sheet in place. Each stiff wrapped sheet provides rigidity and containment to protect wires from abrasion and pinching, while simplifying installation into automotive subassemblies.

An inner lens for a light module includes a first plurality of clips positioned on a lower surface of the inner lens configured to engage with a corresponding first plurality of protrusions of a light frame module; and a second plurality of clips positioned on an upper surface of the inner lens configured to engage with a corresponding second plurality of protrusions of the light frame module. The inner lens is configured to be mounted to the light frame module from a rear side of the light frame module.

A light assembly to ground electronic elements, including a platform that supports a front part of the electronic elements; a housing that supports the electronic elements and the platform, the housing having an anchor that protrudes from the housing to support the platform, a plurality of ridges that protrudes from the housing to support a back part of the electronic elements, a back and a front reflective layers that cover the plurality of ridges and the anchor; and a connector that provides electrical connections between each electronic elements. The front and back reflective layers provide grounding for the electronic elements via the plurality of ridges and the anchor, the connector provides electrical connections between the electronic elements and the back reflective layer, and the platform support provides retaining of the electrical connections provided by the connector.
