This disclosure relates to techniques for performing wireless communications including exchanging information related to capability of processing reference signals. A user equipment device may provide capability information to a network. The capability information may indicate a number of reference signal resources that the user equipment device can process in a slot or other defined period of time. The user equipment device and the network may share a common set of definitions, counting rules, and approaches for interpreting the capability information. The network may configure reference signals for the user equipment device.

Resource counting for reference signals

This disclosure relates to techniques for a wireless device to perform channel state information reporting. The wireless device may receive channel state information reporting configuration information. The channel state information reporting configuration information may include an indication to use a wideband precoding matrix indicator format for 3GPP release 16 type II channel state information reporting. The wireless device may perform channel state information reporting using a different reporting configuration than 3GPP release 16 type II channel state information reporting using a wideband precoding matrix indicator format based at least in part on the channel state information reporting configuration information. The wireless device may also or alternatively perform 3GPP type I channel state information reporting using a unified spatial basis selection framework for rank indicators of 3 and 4 for any number of channel state information reference signal ports.

Channel state information reporting

An approach is described for a user equipment (UE) to receive a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration message from a source device of a first cell and receive a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) from a second cell via the source device. The UE determines a first number of CSI-RS resources of a first time slot duration corresponding to the first cell, a second number of CSI-RS resources of a second time slot duration corresponding to the second cell, an overall time slot duration based on the first and the second time slot duration, an overall number of CSI-RS resources of the overall time slot duration based at least on the first and the second number of CSI-RS resource, generates a capability report at least based on the overall number of CSI-RS resource, and transmits the capability report to the source device.

Radio (NR) channel state information (CSI) capability related signaling enhancement

Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing channel state information (CSI) reporting that includes a stale CSI report. Based at least in part on a CSI reporting configuration, a user equipment (UE) performs CSI measurements during a current reference time period, and generates one or more CSI reports including at least a stale CSI report. A stale CSI report is generated based at least in part on CSI measurements performed prior to the current reference time period. The UE further generates an uplink message including the one or more CSI reports, and transmits the uplink message to the base station under a reporting setting determined by the CSI reporting configuration.

Techniques discussed herein can facilitate successful decoding of Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) based on a reduced number of retransmissions. Based on a given PDSCH, embodiments discussed herein can communicate feedback (e.g., Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) feedback, Channel State Information (CSI) feedback) that indicates an amount of additional information that can allow a User Equipment (UE) to successfully decode the PDSCH. In some embodiments, the feedback can indicate a requested Redundancy Version (RV) sequence that can allow the UE to successfully decode the PDSCH. In other embodiments, the feedback can indicate the amount of additional information, based on which a receiving Base Station (BS) can select a RV sequence.
