A hydraulic circuit is disclosed that can include a flow control element, a pressure compensator connected via a pair of load sense lines to an inlet line and an outlet line, respectively, of a flow control element to provide a constant pressure drop across the flow control element, and a load sense line control valve installed in a load sense line to provide controllable resistance in a flow passage in opposite flow directions, the resistance in each flow direction being different. The load sense line control valve can include a restrictive orifice followed by a spring-loaded check valve in a first flow direction and at least one other restrictive orifice and a check valve in a second flow direction, the second flow direction opposing the first flow direction.

Method and system for improving stability of hydraulic systems with load sense

A flow regulator with pressure relief combination valve is disclosed which can include a housing and a valve assembly. The housing can have a chamber and four ports. A cage, having a plurality of cross holes, is supported by the housing. A hollow spool is slidably disposed within the cage and is biased to engage the cage. A shoulder of the cage and a counterbore of the spool cooperate to interferingly retain an insert. A poppet is slidably disposed inside of the cage. The valve assembly includes an adaptor, a spring disposed within the adaptor, a guide disposed between the spring and the poppet, and an adjuster adjustably secured to the adaptor. The spring is arranged to bias the poppet against a seat via the guide. The adjustor is movable to adjust the position of the spring.

One embodiment of the valve,includes a pressure spike suppression check valve,for relieving any abnormally high pressure that occurs in the cage clutch ports,.

A bi-directional flow control valve includes a two-port housing, and a hollow cage within the housing. The hollow cage has rows of cross-sectional holes that communicate with the ports. A hollow compensating spool is slidably arranged within the hollow cage between the cross-sectional holes. Pressure differential between the ports induces movement in the compensating spool. This movement causes the compensating spool to reduce the opening of one row of cross-sectional holes and increase the opening of the other. In this manner, the valve provides consistent flow control characteristics in each flow direction.

An inventive priority flow regulator comprises a valve assembly which is supported by a housing at one end and confines an electro-magnetic actuator at the other end. The housing has an inlet port, an outlet port, and a regulated port. The valve assembly includes a hollow cage that cooperates with a cavity formed in the housing to define a plurality of internal chambers, a hollow compensating spool slidably arranged within the cage between rows of cross-sectional holes formed in the cage, a hollow guide member slidably arranged within the compensating spool and having cross-holes formed therein, and regulating and dampening spools slidably arranged within the guide member at opposite ends thereof. The internal chambers of the housing communicate with respective ports formed in the housing to provide a priority flow configuration as well as a reverse flow configuration.

The technical field of the invention generally concerns electronically controlled valves for use in electro-hydraulically controlled transmissions. The valve 20 includes a hollow cage 42 pierced by tank ports 52, clutch ports 54, and by pump ports 56. The pump ports 56 receive fluid from a pump. The clutch ports 54 supply fluid to a hydraulic actuator. The cage clutch ports 54 supply fluid at a pressure that is proportional to an electrical control signal applied to a coil 252 of the valve 20. The tank ports 52 return fluid from the valve 20 to a tank. Located in the cage 42 is a main spool 112 that moves laterally relative to the cage 42 for controlling a flow of hydraulic fluid between the clutch ports 54 and either the pump ports 56 or the tank ports 52. An electro-magnetically operated pilot valve regulates a control pressure of fluid applied to a control pressure surface 138 at one end of the main spool 112. A feedback pressure passage 126, having a feedback restriction orifice 128, couples the pressure of fluid in the clutch ports 54 to a feedback pressure surface 114 at the opposite end of the spool 112. The orifice 128 restrains the rate at which fluid flows between the clutch ports 54 and the feedback pressure surface 114. One embodiment of the valve 20 includes a pressure spike suppression check valve 504 for relieving any abnormally high pressure that occurs in the clutch ports 54.

A solenoid valve assembly, subject to high vibration and shock induced loading, providing both axial and radial motion restraint of critical valve structures as economical means for achieving structural integrity.
