Technology described herein includes a method that includes receiving, at one or more processing devices, data corresponding to a first image, and determining, by the one or more processing devices based on the received data, that a first set of pixel values of the first image corresponds to illumination of a first representative wavelength, and at least a second set of pixel values of the first image corresponds to illumination of a second representative wavelength. The illuminations of the first and second representative wavelengths constitute at least a portion of a first illumination sequence pattern used in capturing the first image. The method also includes determining that the first illumination sequence pattern matches a second illumination sequence pattern associated with a device from which the first image is expected to be received, and in response, initiating a biometric authentication process for authenticating a subject represented in the first image.

Using an illumination sequence pattern for biometric authentication

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for a biometric authentication system. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, at one or more processing devices, data corresponding to a first set of pixels of an image sensor. The first set of pixels are exposed under illumination by a first source. Data corresponding to a second set of pixels of the image sensor is received, at the one or more processing devices. The second set of pixels are exposed under illumination by a second source that is spatially separated from the first source. A three-dimensional image is generated using the data corresponding to the first set of pixels as a first image of a pair of photometric stereo images, and the data corresponding to the second set of pixels as a second image of the pair of photometric stereo images.

Synchronizing an illumination sequence of illumination sources with image capture in rolling shutter mode

The technology described in this document can be embodied in a method that includes receiving at a second device a request for data sharing from a first device, and receiving a first file package associated with an application installed on the first device, and the file package includes a first portion of information usable for installation of the application on the second device. The method also includes processing the first file package to obtain the first portion of information usable for installing the application on the second device, providing authentication information for downloading a second file package to a remote computer device different from the first device, and installing the application on the second device using the first portion of information and the second portion of information.

Computer-implemented methods and systems for image security in computer vision applications are described. A shared secret is stored at an image sensor module and a trusted element. The shared secret includes a device-specific secret value and a definition of a plurality of pixel locations. An image is received at the image sensor module, which generates a watermark based on the secret value and applies the watermark to the image, based on the pixel locations, to create a watermarked image. The watermarked image is received at the trusted element, which validates the watermarked image based on the watermark.

The technology described in this document can be embodied in a method for capturing an image. The method includes generating a first control signal configured to cause a rolling shutter camera to capture an image of a subject over a first time period. The method also includes generating, at a first time point during the first time period, a second control signal configured to set a multi-spectral illumination source at a first intensity level. The multi-spectral illumination source is configured to illuminate the subject. The method further includes generating, at a second time point during the first time period, a third control signal configured to set the multi-spectral illumination source at a second intensity level that is less than the first intensity level. A portion of the image captured by the rolling shutter camera between the first and second time points includes a target feature associated with the subject.
