A system and method include tracking virtual entities in a hybrid cloud system. The method includes receiving, at a management processor of a virtual hybrid computing system, a migration request to move a virtual entity from a first cloud sub-system to a second cloud sub-system; adding, by the management processor, a source proxy object representing the virtual entity exiting the first cloud sub-system to a first database, wherein the source proxy object includes a destination identifier and an exit time; executing, by the management processor, a logical migration of the virtual entity from the first cloud sub-system to the second cloud subsystem; receiving, at the management processor, a management query including a query time corresponding to a time for which status information of the virtual entity is requested; determining, at the management processor, whether the query time is before the exit time of the source proxy object; and invoking, from the management processor, a first management software application program interface (API) for the first cloud sub-system when the query time is before the exit time of the source proxy object.

Configuration management for hybrid cloud

Systems for alerting in computing systems. A method commences by defining a plurality of analysis zones bounded by respective ranges of system metric values, which ranges in turn correspond a plurality of system behavior classifications. System observations are taken while the computing system is running. A system observation comprising a measured metric value is classified into one or more of the behavior classifications. Based on the classification, one or more alert analysis processes are invoked to analyze the system observation and make a remediation recommendation. An alert or remediation is raised or suppressed based on one or more zone-based analysis outcomes. An alert is raised when anomalous behavior is detected. The system makes ongoing observations to learn how and when to classify a measured metric value into normal or anomalous behaviors. As changes occur in the system configuration, the analysis zones are adjusted to reflect changing bounds of the zones.

Computing system monitoring

A method of creating computing environment in a cloud computing environment for execution of a test is disclosed. The method includes loading a setup script from a script store. The loading is performed by a test manager that is in communication with the script store. The test manager checks if there are more setup scripts to be loaded. If yes, the remaining setup scripts are loaded by the test manager. The test manager then calculates computing resources needed to run all tests as coded in all loaded scripts. The test manager then attempts to reserve needed computing resources in a virtual data center using a data center infrastructure manager.

Distributed software testing using cloud computing resources

A method is provided for determining the integrity of a domain defined in a network. The method includes processes and systems to facilitate the discovery a conceptual ring topology of the domain in the network, and the determination of the integrity of the domain based on the conceptual ring topology that was discovered.

Ring topology discovery

A self-configuring network comprises network devices that are automatically provisioned with appropriate network resources upon the occurrence of a network event. A profile containing one or more commands to provision a network device with appropriate network resources is deployed to selected connecting devices. The selected connecting devices are targeted for deployment based on the network device and/or port groups to which they belong as determined from a network management system. The profile is bound to the selected connecting devices and affected ports as well as the network events that will trigger execution of the profile on the devices where they are deployed. A graphical user interface and profile information database may be used to facilitate managing the profiles, targeted devices/ports and associated network events.

Self-configuring network

A program may be extended to another program in accordance with information stored in a meta data file. A parent program is associated with the meta data file, and a child program is associated with a child description file created to conform to the information provided in the meta data file. The child description file is stored in a well-known location where it may be accessed by the parent program to learn how communicate with the child program, including which arguments and parameters to use, advantageously providing parent programs with a consistent user interface when interfacing with various child programs as well as the flexibility to add or change child description files to describe new or changed child programs as the need arises.
