A latch assembly provides options for the retention within a rack of a chassis, and the retention within the chassis of a device. With the device in a device slot of the chassis, and the chassis installed in the rack, a first latch in a completely extended position prevents the device from being removed from the slot and prevents a latch tooth from being disengaged from the rack. With the first latch in an intermediate position, the latch tooth may be disengaged from the rack and the chassis removed from the rack, but the device may not be fully removed from the device slot. With the first latch in a retracted position the chassis may be removed from the rack and/or the device may be removed from the device slot.

Chassis interlock latch with auto-lock mechanism

An apparatus is provided for completing a blind mate hydraulic connection. A device is equipped at the rear of the device with a shell holding a manifold connected internally to the device cooling system. Clearances between the shell and manifold allow the manifold to rotate in two axes to adapt to a misalignment between the manifold and a rack cooling system. The device is further provided with a cam-handle attached to the front that provides leverage against the rack for overcoming the connection forces of the blind mate. The manifold and cam-handle combine to facilitate disconnecting the device from the rack cooling system from the front of the rack and servicing the device.

System for blind mate hydraulic connections

An apparatus is provided for forcing a service technician to follow a proper servicing sequence that reduces the potential for an electric shock. Embodiments of the latch mechanism maintain a cable connection unless a tray connector is first disconnected. Embodiments enforce the disconnect sequence using a trigger that is actuated by the disconnecting of the tray connector, a latch-lock in the cable connector that is biased to block a cable connector disconnect mechanism, and a mechanical link between the trigger and the latch-lock. The actuation of the trigger is transmitted by the mechanical link to the latch-lock, which moves in response, unlocking the cable connector and allowing it to be disconnected.

Safety latch mechanism enforcing proper disconnect sequence

A lock device may include a slider assembly including a first slider, a second slider movably coupled to the first slider, and a base having a planar portion with a top rail and a bottom rail that hold the slider assembly and allows the relative movement of the first slider relative to the second slider along the top and bottom rails in the base. The second slider can move relative to the first slider to different positions including a latch lock position, a latch unlock position, and a latch impending lock position. The lock device may also include a latch assembly attached to a chassis. The latch assembly including a latch element is configured to move to a first, a second, and a third heights from the top rail of the base corresponding to the latch lock position, the latch unlock position, and the latch impending lock position of the slider assembly, respectively.

Front access lock mechanism for server chassis

An apparatus provides a latch with a rotary dial and a leaf spring with teeth that extend from a frame into an engaging position. Inward axial movement of the dial causes the dial to deform the leaf spring and the teeth to extend into the engaging position. In the engaging position, the dial supports the teeth and resists forces that might otherwise cause the teeth to unlatch. In the engaging position, a catch in a track on the dial engages a pin of the frame to maintain the engaging position. From the engaging position, a rotation of the dial unseats the catch and allows the dial to move axially outward and the teeth to recede into the frame.

A latch includes a housing, a leaf spring, a tooth, and an actuator. Motion of the actuator against the leaf spring causes the leaf spring to deform and the tooth to extend from the housing to engage a keeper.

Leaf spring latch

A latch includes a pin held in a set position by a trigger. The trigger, when depressed, allows the pin to extend from a chassis and engage a rack, preventing the chassis from being removed from the rack. A handle allows the pin to be retracted, with a reset catch maintaining the pin in the retracted position. The trigger, when released, dislodges the reset catch and the pin returns to the set position maintained by the trigger.

Latch with auto-close

A latch includes a cam arm that follows a serpentine groove in the latch handle where curves of the groove create catch positions that define extended and retracted handle positions. In one of the handle positions, an arm of the handle abuts a toothed arm and urges the toothed arm to a latching position in which a tooth is extended. In the other handle position, the arm retracts from the toothed arm, allowing the tooth to retract.

An expansion device is disclosed for including a plurality of modular devices within a pre-defined volume, such as the drive bay of a computing device. The expansion device may include a standardized bus connection and circuitry connecting to a controller chip, circuitry electrically coupling the controller chip to a plurality of modular devices, and a housing that houses the controller chip, connecting circuitry, and modular devices and that fits within the pre-defined volume.

An apparatus for securing a cable access includes a first cable opening in a top plate of a server rack with a tray affixed to the interior side of the top plate and with a second cable opening that overlaps the first cable opening. A hatch element is movable in a space between the plate and tray to cover up the unneeded areas of the first and second cable openings after cables have been installed. A ratchet and pawl attached to the tray and hatch element cooperate to allow movement of the hatch element in a closing direction and resist movement of the hatch element in an opening direction, with a release element disengaging the ratchet and pawl to allow the hatch element to open.
