Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatuses for uplink transmission without an uplink grant. In example embodiments, a method implemented in a terminal device in a communication system is presented. According to this method, the terminal device determines a redundancy version (RV) pattern for a plurality of uplink transmissions. The RV pattern indicates a plurality of RV indices. At least one RV index in the respective plurality of RV indices is periodic in the RV pattern. The terminal device determines coded bits to be transmitted in the plurality of uplink transmissions based at least in part on the RV pattern. The terminal device transmits the coded bits to the network device in at least one transmission of the plurality of uplink transmissions without an uplink grant. By utilizing this periodic structure of the RV pattern, the network device may have more chance to receive the predefined or configured RV index with self-decodable transmissions for example, leading to a higher reliability and better decoding performance for the grant-free communication systems.

Method and apparatus for uplink transmission

Various communication systems may benefit from improved transmissions. For example, a network transmission may benefit from improved throughput and efficiency in non-schedule multiple access communications. A method includes selecting at a user equipment operating in a non-scheduled access scheme at least one of a first codeword or a second codeword based on an amount of data. The data in the non-scheduled access scheme can be spread according to a spreading sequence. The method also includes determining a transport block size for at least one of the first codeword or the second codeword. In addition, the method includes transmitting the data from the user equipment to a network node using at least one of the first codeword or the second codeword.

Codeword adaptation for non-orthogonal coded access

A method and apparatus may include receiving configuration signaling from a network node to use a resource pool. The apparatus transmits using contention-based transmission. The method also includes selecting a preamble zone combination from the resource pool. The method may also include transmitting a preamble to the network node using the selected preamble zone combination. A preamble sequence index is used to identify the user equipment.

Contention-based uplink data transmission

This invention relates to a method of controlling communication between two nodes in a communication system. The method includes the steps of providing a set of values for controlling communication between the two nodes. The method also includes providing information relating to traffic conditions and providing a command for controlling communication. The method further includes selecting one of the set of values in dependence on the provided information. The command and mapping information provides a mapping between the traffic condition information and information relating to the values.

Method of controlling communication between two nodes in a communication system

A system for enabling communication between a portable computing device and a stationary computer. A user may wear the portable computing device while simultaneously using a pointing device coupled to the stationary computing device. The pointing device may be, for example, a mouse coupled to the computer via a wired USB connection and operated on top of a mouse pad. The mouse may further include at least two electrodes. A first electrode may couple to the user's hand while moving the mouse on the mouse pad. The second electrode may be coupled to the mouse pad, which may include a conductive surface that contacts with the second electrode. These electrodes couple electronically to electrodes in the portable computing device, forming a bidirectional link for exchanging information between the two devices.

The present invention provides a method, a mobile terminal device and a system for determining a transmission power factor. During an uplink of data between a mobile terminal device and a base station via a code division multiple access (CDMA) system supported by automatic repeat request (ARQ) first transmission containing original data and re-transmissions of different order containing supplementary information are communicated. The i-th re-transmissions are based on the automatic repeat request (ARQ). The transmission power factor to be determined is operable with an i-th re-transmission. A first and a second error quantity are obtained from an evaluation of status information items received in accordance with the automatic repeat request (ARQ). The first error quantity and the second error quantity allow for deriving an i-th error ratio so as to calculate a transmission power correction factor.
