An oil pan assembly is disclosed that includes an oil filter, and an oil pan receiving the filter. The oil pan includes a reservoir defining a drain aperture for selectively draining fluid out of the oil pan, and a wall defining a filter cavity in fluid communication with a receiving passage and a sending passage of the oil pan. The oil pan further includes a filter cover assembly, including a cover securing the oil filter within the filter cavity, a filter drain tube extending from the cover through the filter cavity and into a drain passage, and a plug disposed on the filter drain tube, the plug selectively sealing the drain passage. The drain passage allows fluid communication between the filter cavity and the reservoir. The filter drain tube is configured to receive filtered oil from the oil filter.

Oil pan integrated with filter and other components

A vapor canister having an integrated evaporative emission canister purge actuation monitoring system. The vapor canister has a plurality of sidewalls defining a housing with a valve body formed integrally on the housing and a cover mounted to the valve body so as to define a vent chamber between the cover and the valve body. The integrated valve body has a main flow passage and a canister port. An air filter assembly is disposed adjacent to the valve body on the housing and provides fluid communication between the main flow passage and the ambient air. A first one-way umbrella valve mounted to the valve body that is responsive to predetermined positive pressure in the main flow passage to control flow of fluid from a vapor canister to ambient air as well as a second one-way umbrella valve that is responsive to a predetermined negative pressure in the main flow passage to control the flow of ambient air through an air filter assembly.

An evaporative emission canister purge actuation monitoring system includes an integrated valve body having a main flow passage, a first one-way umbrella valve mounted to the valve body that is responsive to predetermined positive pressure in the main flow passage to control flow of fluid from a vapor canister to ambient air as well as a second one-way umbrella valve that is responsive to a predetermined negative pressure in the main flow passage to control the flow of ambient air through a fresh air port. A vacuum actuated switch is supported by the integrated valve body and in electrical communication with a control unit. The switch is responsive to negative pressure in the main flow passage to send a signal indicative of the predetermined negative pressure to the control unit.

Evaporative emission canister purge actuation monitoring system

A fan shroud includes a fan shroud portion having a surface including an aperture. A cooling fan is supported proximate to the aperture for permitting air flow through the fan shroud from the environment to the engine compartment. An air intake portion is supported on the fan shroud portion. The air intake portion and the fan shroud portion together define at least a portion of an air passageway having an inlet for receiving ambient air and an outlet for connection to an engine throttle. The fan shroud portion and air intake portion may respectively include first and second circumferential portions that define the air passageway.

An active noise attenuation system () comprises a speaker () in communication with a flow body (). The speaker () emits an output for attenuating noise from the flow body (). A control unit () communicates with the speaker () and controls the output. A housing () has one volume () acting as a liquid storage chamber and another volume () acting as a speaker chamber.

Integrated active noise attenuation system and fluid reservoir

The air induction system comprises an air induction body with a mouth and a speaker forming an interface with the mouth. A fender portion of a vehicle at least partially covers the interface, protecting the interface from environmental conditions. A control unit controls with the speaker to thereby generate a noise attenuating sound.

Environmentally robust noise attenuation system

A method and apparatus is provided for snap-fit attachment of a throttle shaft to a throttle body. A pair of resilient cantilevered tangs is formed on a distal end of the throttle shaft. Bearings are installed within a bore formed in the throttle body to rotatably support the shaft. The shaft is inserted through an opening in the bearings to compress the tangs and the tangs are resiliently returned to an extended position to prevent withdrawal of the shaft from the throttle body.

Snap-fit throttle shaft

A method and apparatus is provided for driving a throttle blade about an axis of rotation between maximum and minimum airflow positions. The throttle assembly includes a throttle body with an airflow passage. The throttle blade is mounted for rotation with respect to the body between the maximum and minimum airflow positions. The throttle blade has a central bore for receiving at least a portion of a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism includes a motor operably connected to a gear drive to move the throttle blade between the maximum and minimum airflow positions. In one example, the drive mechanism is preassembled in a tube that is inserted into the blade bore during assembly. A position sensor is also mounted within the bore to monitor the position of the blade relative to the body.

Power blade for throttle assembly

A vehicle electronic throttle control assembly includes a position controlling device that automatically returns the throttle assembly components to a home position. A generally arcuate spring interacts with a plate portion supported on a shaft that is associated with the throttle blade portion. The natural bias of the spring biases the shaft and blade portion into a home position. The position controlling device accommodates situations where the electric motor assembly of the throttle control arrangement fails to operate as desired or does not receive proper power or command signals, for example.

Return spring mechanism for an electronic throttle control assembly

A throttle shaft and butterfly construction is formed by molding both components from composite plastic, the shaft having integral bosses which are received in holes formed in the throttle plate. The bosses are ultrasonically or heat staked to lock the throttle plate onto the throttle shaft. The butterfly has ribs extending across a face of the butterfly substantially to the edge of the valve in a direction parallel to the flow of air across the butterfly to stiffen the butterfly and reinforcing ribs on the butterfly parallel to the throttle shaft to stiffen both the butterfly and the throttle shaft.
