A multi-instance 2-Level-Memory (2LM) architecture manages access by processing instances having different memory usage priorities to memory having different performance and cost levels. The 2LM architecture includes a virtual memory management module that manages access by respective processing instances by creating memory instances based on specified memory usage priority levels and specified virtual memory sizes and defining policies for each usage priority level of the created memory instances. In response to a virtual memory request by a processing instance, the virtual memory management module determines whether a virtual memory size at a designated usage priority level requested by a processing instance can be satisfied by a policy of a created first memory instance and, if not, selects another memory instance that can satisfy the requested virtual memory size at the designated usage priority level and swaps out the first memory instance in favor of the other memory instance.

A packet processing method in a computing system is disclosed. The computing system comprises a host, wherein at least one network interface card is connected to the host. The network interface card includes switching equipment and at least two network ports. A first network port is corresponding to at least one physical function PF and multiple virtual functions VFs. At least one VF of the first network port is provided for a first virtual machine on the host in a passthrough manner. The first virtual machine sends a data packet from the VF that is connected to the first virtual machine. Switching equipment of the first network port forwards the data packet according to a destination MAC address of the data packet, and sends the data packet to a virtual bridge on VMM of the host. The VMM provides abundant network function processing for the data packet.

Packet processing method in cloud computing system, host, and system

A packet processing method in a cloud computing system is disclosed. The cloud computing system includes a host and a cloud management platform. At least one network interface card is connected to the host. The at least one network interface card includes at least three network ports. A first virtual machine running on the host sends a data packet to a second network port through a first network port using a network cable between the first and the second network port. The second network port sends the data packet to a virtual machine monitor (VMM) of the host for performing network function processing. The data packet is then sent to a second virtual machine via a third network port of the host after the network function processing.

Embodiments provide a resource management technology that may be applied to a host, where the host includes a CPU, an endpoint connected to the CPU, and an I/O device connected to the endpoint.
