Nitrogen silylated compounds are useful as additives in a nonaqueous electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution including such additives is suitable for use in electrochemical cells such as lithium and lithium ion batteries. Batteries using this electrolytic solution have long cycle life and high capacity retention.

Nitrogen silylated compounds as additives in non-aqueous solutions for electrochemical cells

A process is provided to produce non-aqueous electrolytic solution for use in batteries having low acid content and low water content. The invention involves removing acids and water from non-aqueous electrolytic solutions typically found in lithium or lithium-ion batteries by using nitrogen-containing compounds such as triazines. After treatment by a triazine such as melamine, the concentrations of acids and water in the electrolytic solutions are substantially decreased. The present invention provides a process to prepare extremely pure electrolytic solutions having low (&#x3c;20 ppm) concentrations of both water and acids.

Triazine compounds for removing acids and water from nonaqueous electrolytes for electrochemical cells

The invention relates to the use of an amine oxide as an additive in a nonaqueous electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution is suitable for use in electrochemical cells such as lithium batteries and lithium ion batteries. Batteries using this electrolyte solution have long life and high capacity retention.

Nonaqueous electrolytic solution for electrochemical cells

The invention relates to the use of aromatic phosphite compounds as stabilizers for nonaqueous electrolytic solutions containing halogenated salts such as LiPFand LiBF. The electrolyte containing such a phosphite exhibits excellent shelf life storage at ambient and high temperatures. The electrolytic solution is suitable for use in electrochemical cells such as lithium (ion) rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors.
