A dual-polarized radiating element for a base station antenna includes a first dipole that extends along a first axis, the first dipole including a first dipole arm and a second dipole arm and a second dipole that extends along a second axis, the second dipole including a third dipole arm and a fourth dipole arm and the second axis being generally perpendicular to the first axis, where each of the first through fourth dipole arms has first and second spaced-apart conductive segments that together form a generally oval shape.

A feed network for a multi-beam antenna is provided, including a first beam port, a second beam port, a beam-forming network coupled to the beam ports, and a cancellation circuit. The cancellation circuit is coupled to the first beam port and the second beam port before the beam-forming network. The cancellation circuit extracts a portion of a RF signal on the first beam port, adds phase delay, and injects the extracted, delayed signal from the first beam port onto the second beam port, and extracts a portion of a RF signal on the second beam port, adds phase shift, and injects the extracted, delayed signal from the second beam port onto the first beam port. In one example of the invention, the cancellation circuit comprises a first directional coupler on a first beam input path, a transmission line, a second directional coupler on the second beam input path.

Reflection cancellation in multibeam antennas

Antenna arrays may include a first plurality of radiating elements responsive to respective pairs of first radio frequency signals and a second plurality of radiating elements responsive to respective pairs of second radio frequency signals. A shared radiating element is also provided, which is responsive to a corresponding pair of first radio frequency signals and a corresponding pair of second radio frequency signals. This shared radiating element may be equivalent in configuration to the first and second pluralities of radiating elements, or may have a unique configuration relative to the first and second pluralities of radiating elements. The first plurality of radiating elements and the second plurality of radiating elements can be aligned as respective first and second spaced-apart and collinear columns of radiating elements, with the shared radiating element disposed about equidistant between the first and second columns.

A phased array antenna includes a panel, a plurality of feed boards on the panel, each of the feed boards including at least one radiating element, a base-level adjustable phase shifter including a plurality of outputs, a first feed board adjustable phase shifter mounted on a first of the feed boards and a first cable that forms a transmission path between a first of the outputs of the base-level adjustable phase shifter and the first feed board.

Phased array antennas having multi-level phase shifters

A base station antenna includes a panel that has a ground plane, first and second arrays that have respective first and second sets of linearly arranged radiating elements mounted on the panel, and a decoupling unit positioned between a first radiating element of the first array and a first radiating element of the second array. The decoupling unit includes at least a first sidewall that faces the first radiating element of the first array, a second sidewall that faces the first radiating element of the second array and an internal cavity that is defined in the region between the sidewalls. The first and second sidewalls are electrically conductive and electrically connected to the ground plane.
