In a method for adapting a mobile network, a terminal is connected to a first access node of the mobile network via a first connection and to a second access node via a second connection. The first access node controls a data transmission for the terminal and the second access node assists in the data transmission for the terminal. The method comprises determining whether a quality of at least one of the first connection and the second connection is degraded, acquiring quality degradation information about the degradation of the quality of at least one of the first connection and the second connection based on the step of determining, and adapting the mobile network based on the step of acquiring.

Adapting a mobile network

Methods, nodes, computer programs, computer program products and a mobile network for adapting a mobile network are described. In such a method for adapting a mobile network (), a terminal () is connected to a first access node () of the mobile network () via a first connection and to a second access node () via a second connection. The first access node () controls a data transmission for the terminal () and the second access node () assists in the data transmission for the terminal (). The method comprises determining () whether a quality of at least one of the first connection and the second connection is degraded, acquiring () quality degradation information about the degradation of the quality of at least one of the first connection and the second connection based on the step of determining, and adapting () the mobile network () based on the step of acquiring. Thereby a network adaption can be enabled in an easy, efficient and fast way in a case in which at least one of the first connection and second connection may have been degraded or failed.

According to several disclosed techniques, a wireless network provides assistance information to a mobile terminal for cell selection at re-establishment of a connection after a radio link failure. An example method is implemented in a mobile terminal served in a first cell of a wireless network, and includes receiving () a configuration message from the network, the configuration message identifying at least one carrier frequency. Upon subsequently losing connection with the first cell without receiving a handover command, the mobile terminal initiates () a cell search using the identified at least one carrier frequency, based on the configuration message.

Network-assisted cell selection at connection re-establishment

A method in a primary network node for handling a handover of a wireless device from a primary cell serviced by the primary network node to a neighbor cell serviced by a neighbor network node. The method comprises sending a configuration message to the wireless device, comprising instructions to evaluate in parallel a first handover event and a second handover event. The first event is based on signal quality measurements from both cells. The second event is based on signal strength measurements from both cells. To evaluate comprises determining if an entering condition for each of the events is satisfied. The method further comprises sending a handover command to the wireless device when one of: the entering condition for the first handover event is satisfied over a first time period, and the entering condition for the second handover event is satisfied over a second time period.

Methods and apparatuses for configuring a wireless device to evaluate handover events

A method in a first base station () for handling a data transferral in a cellular network () is provided. The first base station () serves a user equipment () via a first cell (). When the first base station () obtains an indication that a second cell () provides a coverage for the user equipment (), the first base station () sends a message to a second base station () serving the second cell (). The message commands the second base station () to prepare for receiving the uplink data from the user equipment () via the second cell (). The first base station () also sends a request to the user equipment (). The request commands the user equipment () to prepare for sending the uplink data both via the first cell () and via the second cell () in respective separate intra frequency transmissions.

Methods and arrangement for handling a data transferral in a cellular network

Embodiments herein relates to a radio network node () for controlling a handover process of a user equipment () from a first cell () to a second cell (). The user equipment () is served in the first cell configured to be controlled by the radio network node. The radio network node comprises an operating circuit configured to operate according to a handover process, which handover process is triggered by a first trigger parameter when a connection to the user equipment is active, and by a second trigger parameter when the connection to the user equipment is inactive.

Triggering a handover process based on the activity of a connection

The present invention relates to methods and devices for mobility management in a cellular communications system. A user equipment maintains () at least two sets of mobility trigger parameters. Each set of mobility trigger parameters corresponds to a predetermined user equipment speed range. The user equipment determines () a speed range that the speed of the user equipment falls into and selects (), based on the determined speed range, at least one set of mobility trigger parameters to be used for performing mobility-based decisions. If the user equipment is in connected mode a network base station may select a set of mobility trigger parameters to be used for performing handover decisions based on a determined speed range of the user equipment. Advantages are that ping-pong mobility decisions may be avoided and it is sufficient to determine a range for the UE speed, which is less complicated than determining an accurate speed of the UE particularly in idle mode.

Methods and arrangements for mobility management

A controlling node for a cellular communications system, arranged to handle the control of one or more user terminals in a first cell and configurable to receive transmissions from one or more user terminals in the first cell, with a defined periodicity. The controlling node includes a receipt monitor for one or more users in the cell, the receipt monitor being arranged to monitor timely receipt of the one or more of the certain transmissions from the one or more user terminals at the expected time for the defined periodicity, and to initiate handover of a user terminal from the first cell to another cell if the controlling node does not receive one or more of the certain transmissions at the expected time for the defined periodicity from the user terminal.

Controlling node

A method in a receiving node for sending an acknowledgement/not acknowledgement 'ACK/NACK' feedback report of received data units over a radio link is provided. When the receiving node have received () data units in a number of subframes over a first radio link from a sending node, it creates () an ACK/NACK feedback report. The report is compressed such that it comprises one single ACK/NACK feedback relating to the data units in the number of received subframes, and the report comprises an indicator indicating said number of received subframes. The sending node then transmits () the created ACK/NACK feedback report to the sending node over a second radio link. The feedback report renders it feasible for the sending node to decide whether a retransmission of any subframe is required or not based on a comparison of the reported number of received subframes with the known transmitted number of subframes per frame, together with the compressed ACK/NACK feedback report.
