In an embodiment, a transistor arrangement is provided. The transistor arrangement comprises a nanowire including a first nanowire region and a second nanowire region; a first gate contact disposed over the first nanowire region; an insulating region disposed over the second nanowire region; a second gate contact disposed over the insulating region; wherein the first nanowire region and the first gate contact forms a part of an enhancement mode transistor and the second nanowire region, the insulating region and the second gate contact forms a part of a depletion mode transistor. A method of forming a transistor arrangement may also be provided. Also contemplated is a transistor and a method for forming said transistor, where the transistor comprises a nanowire and a gate contact, where the gate contact is formed by directly writing the gate contact onto a region of the nanowire.

Transistor arrangement and a method of forming a transistor arrangement

The invention provides a highly sensitive immunoassay for detection of a biological species. The immunoassay comprises exposing an electrode to an analyte liquid putatively containing the biological species so as to couple the biological species, if present in the analyte liquid, to a binding antibody on the electrode. The electrode comprises a binding antibody and an anchor group, each being coupled to an electrically conductive substrate, said binding antibody being capable of binding to the biological species and said anchor group being capable of binding to a redox polymer. The electrode is then exposed to an antibody-enzyme liquid comprising an antibody-enzyme species, said antibody-enzyme species comprising a detection antibody capable of binding to the biological species, said detection antibody being coupled to a redox enzyme, whereby, if the analyte liquid comprises the biological species, the redox enzyme couples to the electrode by means of the coupling of both the detection antibody and the binding antibody to the biological species. The electrode is then exposed to a polymer solution comprising the redox polymer and to an enzyme substrate, whereby if the redox enzyme is coupled to the anchor group on the electrode the redox polymer is reduced and couples to the anchor group on the electrode. A voltage is then applied between the electrode and a reference electrode and the electrode is exposed to an oxidizable species, whereby a magnitude of an electric current between said electrode and a reference electrode is indicative of the presence or absence of the biological species.

A method for the detection and/or quantification of at least one target nucleic acid or target polypeptide in a sample of nucleic acids or polypeptides comprising the steps of: a) providing a sample comprising nucleic acids or polypeptides; b) labeling the nucleic acids or polypeptides with a ligand conjugate, the ligand conjugate comprising a first element binding to the nucleic acids or polypeptides and a second element which is a capture ligand; c) contacting the nucleic acid-ligand conjugates or polypeptide-ligand conjugates with at least one capture probe, the capture probe hybridizing with or binding to at least one target nucleic acid or target polypeptide; d) adding i) an oxidoreductase enzyme, wherein the oxidoreductase enzyme is recognized by the capture ligand, or ii) a complex comprising an oxidoreductase enzyme bound to a capture receptor, the capture receptor capable of binding to the capture ligand; e) adding a redox polymer, the redox polymer binding to the oxidoreductase enzyme, thereby resulting in the transfer of electrons from the enzyme via the redox polymer to an electrode surface; and f) detecting and/or quantifying the presence of the target nucleic acid(s) or target polypeptide(s).

Method and device for detection of nucleic acids and/or polypeptides

A threading intercalator of general formula I:IG-DG-IG-(DG-IG)&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)wherein IG, IG, and IGare the same or different and represent an intercalating group comprising a planar polyaromatic group; wherein DG represents an electrochemical, a chemiluminescent, a catalytic or an electrochemiluminescent detectable group; and wherein n represents 0 or 1. The compositions comprise electrocatalytic intercalators that bind to double-stranded nucleic acid and oxidize nucleic acid. Methods of detecting nucleic acid in a sample comprise forming double-stranded nucleic acid that is bound by electrocatalytic intercalators wherein the intercalators catalyze oxidation of the nucleic acid at the surface of an electrode.
