Examples relate to firmware-based provisioning of hardware resources. In some of the examples, firmware discovers and takes ownership of a hardware resource. At this stage, the firmware performs a test to verify the hardware resource. The firmware then assigns the hardware resource to an OS instance. At this stage, the firmware can suspend assigning further hardware resources to the OS instance in response to a satisfied notification from the OS instance.

Firmware-based provisioning of operating system resources

A method for allocating resources includes determining that an initial allocation of memory bandwidth for one or more computing jobs fails a performance metric. The memory bandwidth provides access to a global memory pool for multiple legacy processors across a memory fabric. The method also includes determining a new allocation of memory bandwidth for the computing jobs that meets the performance metric. Additionally, the method includes assigning the new allocation of memory bandwidth to the computing jobs. The method further includes executing the computing jobs using the new allocation of memory bandwidth.

In one implementation, a system for hybrid cooling control of a computing system includes a coordinated controller engine to: determine a number of liquid loop set-points and a number of air loop set-points, determine a number of system parameters corresponding to the number of liquid loop set-points and the number of air loop set-points, determine a correlation factor for the number of system parameters; and alter the number of liquid loop set-points and the number of air loop set-points based on the correlation factor to lower an energy consumption or to maximize energy reuse of a number of cooling resources associated with the number of system parameters.

The global memory is shared by each node of the multi-node computing system. In response to an indication to access the management partition, the system management command is accessed from the management partition by a second node of the multi-node computing system. In example implementations, a system is disclosed, the system including a plurality of computing devices, a management device, and a non-volatile memory including a plurality of management spaces corresponding to the plurality of computing devices. The method may also include controlling, by a processor, a service in the first area based on the determination of the number of occupants, the determination of when the occupant is moving and the direction of motion of the occupant, and/or the determination of the most likely trajectory.

According to an example, memory-driven OOB management may include OOB management of a computing node of a plurality of computing nodes. The OOB management may be executed independent of an OS of the computing node. A system comprises a plurality of functional units powered via a power source. The system further comprises a first functional unit and a second functional unit, wherein the second functional unit is to promote the first functional unit to a management unit based on a management requirement of the system. Once the first functional unit is promoted, the management unit is isolated from the functional units that were not promoted via a virtual network path and a power management unit.

In an implementation, a method for managing airflow distribution through a plurality of adaptive vent tiles comprises accessing a model that correlates an environmental condition with a setting arrangement of the plurality of adaptive vent tiles and operational settings of a plurality of fluid moving devices. The method also includes calculating, through implementation of the model, a setting arrangement of the plurality of adaptive vent tiles that results in a substantially optimized metric subject to a set of constraints, wherein the setting arrangement of the plurality of adaptive vent tiles comprises an arrangement in which adaptive vent tiles in respective groups of adaptive vent tiles have substantially uniform opening levels with respect to each other.

A power capping system () and method () are provided. In one embodiment, a power capping system () includes a power controller () configured to calculate an error between a predefined maximum desired power and a power feedback signal associated with actual power consumption of a server () and to provide a power capping signal that substantially limits the power consumption of the server () based on a predetermined gain constant and the error. The system also includes a management interface () configured to generate a normalization factor based on the power feedback signal. The normalization factor can be implemented to normalize the error.

The inputs in the selected subset are then adjusted to achieve a desired output of the computing system.
