Compositions and methods for increasing plant growth and yield are provided. Compositions comprise the high yield gene TEL, promoters and enhancers to increase the expression of a TEL gene in a plant of interest. By enhancing the expression of at least one TEL gene in a plant, an improvement in plant growth and yield is achieved, resulting in an increase in crop yield in a field planted with such plants. A plant of interest may be transformed with a DNA construct comprising a promoter that is capable of driving expression in the plant operably linked to a coding sequence for a TEL gene. The DNA construct may comprise at least on enhancer that acts to increase expression of the TEL coding sequence. A promoter or enhancer can be inserted into the genome of the plant of interest at a site that increases the expression of the endogenous TEL coding sequence in the plant.

Methods for improving crop yield

Compositions and methods for increasing plant yield are provided. The methods comprise increasing the expression of an anxin synthase gene or coding sequence in the shoot meristem and inflorescence of a plant. The compositions comprise DNA constructs comprising an auxin synthase coding sequence operably linked to a promoter that preferentially drives expression in the shoot meristem and inflorescence of a plant. Also provided are plants, plant cells, plant tissues, and seeds that have been transformed with the DNA construct.

Use of auxin synthase for improving crop yield

Disclosed are a herbicide resistance gene and use thereof, wherein 1) the amino acid sequence of the encoded protein is at least more than 80% identical to SEQ ID NO:1; and 2) the encoded protein is capable of resulting in resistance to at least one of the following types of herbicides: acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicides, protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO)-inhibiting herbicides, p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD)-inhibiting herbicides, photosystem II-inhibiting herbicides, and synthetic auxin herbicides. The gene disclosed herein can be introduced into a plant to obtain a transgenic plant against herbicides. A method is disclosed for obtaining an herbicide-resistant transgenic plant by using an herbicide-resistant gene. Such herbicide-resistant transgenic plant can prevent damage of herbicides to the plant, providing a convenient and economical means for selectively killing weeds.

Herbicide resistance gene and use thereof

Disclosed are a method for obtaining highly glyphosate-resistant G1174 gene mutants through artificial mutation and use thereof. Two or more amino acid mutations are introduced in the amino acid sequence from position 95 to position 114 of protein encoded by G1174 gene, and the highly glyphosate-resistant mutants are selected. Also disclosed is a highly glyphosate-resistant mutated G1174 gene, wherein the amino acid sequence from position 95 to position 114 is selected from any one of SEQ ID NO: 4 to SEQ ID NO: 24. The use of the highly glyphosate-resistant mutated gene is for conferring a plant with glyphosate resistance through expression of the transgene in the plant.

Highly glyphosate-resistant mutated gene, method of modification and use thereof
