Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and a server system for transcoding a video source file into multiple target formats. The server system includes a first server configured to receive a first video chunk of the video source file and first attribute parameters corresponding to the first video chunk and a first target format of the multiple target formats where the first video chunk is transcoded into the first target format. The first attribute parameters include a first precoding parameter for the first video chunk and a first coding parameter for the first target format. The first server can process the first video chunk according to the first precoding parameter to obtain a first intermediate coding result and code the first intermediate coding result according to the first coding parameter to obtain a first final coding result in the first target format and output the first final coding result.

The method includes obtaining a source slice media file included in a source multimedia file, and obtaining, by processing circuitry of a transcoding device, a slice pre-processing result corresponding to the source slice media file, the slice pre-processing result indicating a storage address of an image area processing result of the source slice media file, in a pre-processing device. The method also includes obtaining, by the processing circuitry of the transcoding device, the image area processing result of the source slice media file from the storage address. This application a video file transcoding system and related transcoding method. The system includes: a segmentation device for obtaining a video file and a customized index parameter; split the video file into n video fragments; and generate transcoding configuration parameters according to the customized index parameter; a transcoding device for obtaining an ivideo fragment; obtain a customized material corresponding to the ivideo fragment according to the transcoding configuration parameters; add the customized material to the ivideo fragment, to obtain an icustomized video fragment; and transcode the icustomized video fragment to obtain an itarget video fragment; and a merging device for merging n target video fragments into a target video file after n customized video fragments are all transcoded. This application resolves the problem that it takes too long to transcode a video file to which customized information needs to be added and/or transcoding efficiency is low.
