An apparatus including an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive pixel data. The processor may be configured to generate a reference image and a target image from the pixel data, perform disparity operations on the reference image and the target image and build a disparity map in response to the disparity operations. The disparity operations may comprise selecting a guide node from the pixel data comprising a pixel and a plurality of surrounding pixels, determining a peak location for the pixel by performing a full range search, calculating a shift offset peak location for each of the surrounding pixels by performing block matching operations in a local range near the peak location and generating values in a disparity map for the pixel data in response to the peak location for the pixel and the shift offset peak location for each of the surrounding pixels.

An apparatus includes an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive a plurality of sensed values from a sensor under a plurality of conditions. The processor may be connected to the interface and may be configured to (i) generate a plurality of patterns in response to the sensed values, where each of the patterns includes a plurality of positions of a plurality of bad values among the sensed values in a corresponding one of the conditions, (ii) identify a plurality of consistently bad values among the bad values in the patterns and (iii) indicate that the sensor has been replaced where the positions associated with the consistently bad values do not correlate to a plurality of known positions of the consistently bad values previously identified in the sensor.

In one embodiment, the invention provides a method for accessing a physical storage-device array comprising a plurality of storage devices. The method includes (1) obtaining at least one parameter from a profile selected from two or more profiles concurrently defining two or more virtual arrays, each profile defining (i) a different virtual array associated with a corresponding set of storage devices and (ii) a parameter set of one or more parameters used for accessing the virtual array; and (2) generating an instruction, based on the at least one parameter, for accessing, or disallowing access to, information in the virtual array defined by the selected profile, wherein a parameter in each the parameter set defined by each profile indicates whether two or more storage devices in the corresponding virtual array are degraded.
