The subject matter of the present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for sensing analytes with a high selectivity and low responses to interferences in an environment. In one embodiment, a sensor was developed which comprises a sensor electrode, a coupling element operationally coupled to a discrete segment of the sensor electrode, and an activation material in operational contact with the coupling element and configured to induce an irreversible sensor response for a selected sensing application.

Systems and methods for sensing compounds in an environment

A sensor for detecting gaseous agents has a transducer, which includes an electrical resonant circuit that forms an antenna. The sensor further includes a sensing material that is disposed on at least a portion of the transducer. The sensing material is configured to simultaneously exhibit a capacitance response and a resistance response in the presence of a gaseous agent. The sensor may be reversible, battery free, and may require no electrical contact with a sensor reader.

Materials and sensors for detecting gaseous agents

Methods and sensors for selective fluid sensing are provided. A gas dosimeter includes a housing configured with an opening to admit an analyte. The gas dosimeter also includes a multivariate sensor disposed in the housing. The sensor is configured to determine a concentration of the analyte over time. In addition, the multivariate sensor includes an irreversible sensing material. Electrical properties of the irreversible sensing material are configured to change irreversibly upon exposure to the analyte.
