The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic solution for soft contact lenses for controlled release of polyethers into an eye's tear film. Polyether components of the subject solution are released from the soft contact lens material matrix over long time periods to produce longer lasting wetting performance, improved lubricity, improved end-of-the-day comfort and reduced feeling of dryness from wearing contact lenses. The present invention also includes the use of cationic polyelectrolytes for controlling the swelling of hydrogel contact lenses typically caused by the absorption of high concentrations of polyethers.

The present invention is directed to a method of treating dry eye by instilling eyedrops of a composition containing a cationic cellulosic polymer. The present invention is directed to a method for treating a silicone-hydrogel contact lenses while worn in the eye. In particular, the method employs an ophthalmic solution containing a cationic cellulosic polymer that binds to the lens and prevents the accumulation of lipids, proteins and other products, particularly during extended use of the lens. The addition of one or more surfactants to the solution further maintains the lens clean during use. Such a solution is intended to be applied, in the form of drops, to contact lens in the eye.

Method for treating extended-wear contact lenses in the eyes

The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic solution for the treatment of contact lenses while worn in the eye. In particular, the composition contains ethoxylated glucose derivative, tyloxapol, and a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene nonionic surfactant. The ophthalmic solution containing such a combination of components can be applied, in the form of drops, to the eye or to contact lens in the eye. In one embodiment of the invention, the composition is used for reducing unwanted lipid or protein deposition on extended-wear lenses, including lenses made from relatively hydrophobic materials such as silicon hydrogels.

The present invention is a skin care composition which provides a high degree of moisturization without leaving a 'tacky' residue on treated skin. Skin care compositions

There are disclosed ophthalmic compositions having high water-binding properties which are useful as: moisturizing and lubricating (i.e. artificial tear) solutions, dry eye therapies, contact lens wetting and lubricating solutions, and as delivery vehicles for ophthalmic drugs. The subject compositions include glycerin in combination with propylene glycol. The subject compositions may further include cellulose derivatives, e.g. hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, along with preservatives, e.g. benzylalkonium chloride, PHMB, sorbic acid, etc. Preferred compositions have at least 11% bound water, a pH from about 7.1 to 7.5, and an osmolality between about 280 to about 320 mOsm/Kg.
