A power converter includes a power converter circuit and a microcontroller that controls the power converter circuit. The microcontroller includes a power control unit and a processing unit. The power control unit adjusts the switching frequency of the power converter circuit based on thresholds of a resonant capacitor of the power converter circuit. The power control unit also generates event signals indicative of breaches of the thresholds by the resonant capacitor. When the processing unit receives an event signal from the power control unit indicative of a breach of one of the thresholds by the resonant capacitor, the processing unit determines whether the switching frequency falls outside a defined range based on the event signal. In response to determining that the switching frequency falls outside the defined range, the processing unit instructs the power control unit to clamp the switching frequency of the power converter circuit.

Enhanced hybrid hysteretic control of LLC converters

A multiple-output integrated power factor correction system includes, for example, a processor that is formed in a substrate and is arranged to monitor each voltage output of two or more output stages of a power supply and in response to generate an individual voltage error signal for each monitored output stage. A combined output voltage error signal is generated in response to each of the individual voltage error signals. The voltage input to the power supply and the total inductor current of the power supply are monitored and used to generate a combined output voltage control signal in response to the monitored input voltage total inductor current as well as the combined output voltage error control signal. Each individual output voltage control signal for each monitored output stage is generated in response to each of the respective generated individual voltage error signals.

Multiple output integrated power factor correction

A method for determining each current output of a three-phase inverter () comprises the following steps: inspecting an initial set of control signals for the inverter (); identifying a measurement conflict when at least two of said control signals are asserted within a predetermined amount of time of each; if there is a measurement conflict, providing a first modified set of control signals to the inverter by shifting a position of at least one control signal related to the measurement conflict; and measuring a current through a shunt resistor based on the first modified set of control signals. Also, an electronic device and a digital processor (DSP) for determining each current output of three-phase inverter () are provided.

Inverter current measurement using a shunt resistor

An inter-module communication system provides for the exchange of status/event signals between interface modules monitoring the activity of external apparatus. The communication system includes a dedicated inter-modular control unit that collects status/event signals from the modules and an inter-modular control bus for distributing the status/event signals to the other modules. The status/event signals are applied to a multiplexer. The multiplexer can be programmed to transmit specified status/event signals. The specified status/event signals provide inter-modular coordination among the plurality of the modules without involvement of the device peripheral bus.

Apparatus and method for a peripheral inter-module event communication system

In a pulse width modulation controlled three-phase voltage-source inverter having three legs, each leg including two transistors coupled serially between the terminals of a power source and providing a respective drive output, each leg further including a shunt resistor between one of the two transistors and one of the terminals, in which control pulses are applied to each leg during a sequence of pulse periods, and the inverter has a neutral current, a method for determining the phase current for each phase. The method includes the following steps. First, it is determined which two legs have the longest on time for the lower power transistors. The current through the shunt resistors for the determined legs is determined, to obtain a value representative of the phase current for the legs. Finally, the phase current for the leg not sampled during the sector is derived by subtracting the determined phase currents from the neutral current.

A method for use in a pulse width modulation controlled voltage-source inverter having one or more legs, each leg including two transistors coupled serially between the terminals of a power source and providing a respective drive output, each leg further including a shunt resistor between one of the two transistors, denominated the lower transistor, and one of the terminals, in which control pulses are applied to each leg during a sequence of pulse periods. The method is for determining the phase current each leg supplies, and includes the following steps. The voltages are sampled across the shunt resistor in a plurality of sample periods. The voltages so sampled are averaged over the sample periods, and the phase current is determined from the average so derived.
