A magnetic device includes a stacked body including a first ferromagnetic layer, a second ferromagnetic layer, and a non-magnetic layer sandwiched between the first ferromagnetic layer and the second ferromagnetic layer; a first insulating layer which covers side surfaces of the stacked body; and a radiator located outside the first insulating layer with respect to the stacked body, in which a distance between the stacked body and the radiator differs depending on a position of the stacked body in a stacking direction.

Magnetic device

A TMR element includes a magnetic tunnel junction, a side wall portion that covers a side surface of the magnetic tunnel junction, and a minute particle region that is disposed in the side wall portion. The side wall portion includes an insulation material. The minute particle region includes the insulation material and a plurality of minute magnetic metal particles that are dispersed in the insulation material. The minute particle region is electrically connected in parallel with the magnetic tunnel junction.

This magnetic recording head includes a main magnetic pole, a write shield, and an element. The element has a first portion, a second portion, and a non-magnetic conductive layer disposed therebetween. The element has a first current path connecting the main magnetic pole and the non-magnetic conductive layer to each other, and a second current path connecting the write shield and the non-magnetic conductive layer to each other.

A TMR element includes a magnetic tunnel junction, a side wall portion that is disposed on a side surface of the magnetic tunnel junction, a cap layer that covers a top surface of the magnetic tunnel junction and a surface of the side wall portion, and an upper electrode layer that is disposed on the cap layer. The cap layer includes an upper surface and a lower surface. The upper surface has a protruding shape that protrudes in a direction away from the magnetic tunnel junction in a first region which is positioned immediately above the top surface of the magnetic tunnel junction. The upper surface has a recess that is recessed in a direction toward the side wall portion in a second region which is positioned immediately above the surface of the side wall portion.

A spin current magnetization rotational element includes: a ferromagnetic metal layer; a spin-orbit torque wiring configured to extend in a first direction perpendicular to a lamination direction of the ferromagnetic metal layer and formed on one surface of the ferromagnetic metal layer; and a ferromagnetic electrode layer formed outside the ferromagnetic metal layer on any of surfaces of the spin-orbit torque wiring in a top view from the lamination direction. A direction of magnetization of the ferromagnetic metal layer is changeable by spin-orbit torque generated by a spin-orbit interaction in the spin-orbit torque wiring and an influence of spin diffused from the ferromagnetic electrode layer.

A microwave assisted magnetic head includes a main magnetic pole; a trailing shield; and a spin torque oscillator provided between the main magnetic pole and the trailing shield. The spin torque oscillator has a first end surface configuring a part of an air bearing surface, a second end surface facing the main magnetic pole, and a third end surface facing the first end surface, the first angle &#x3b8;1 made by the first end surface and the second end surface is smaller than the second angle &#x3b8;2 formed by the second end surface and the third end surface, and the second angle &#x3b8;2 is 80 to 100 degrees.
