Methods, systems, and devices for processing and answering a natural language query at a database server are described. An end user may submit a question in natural language over a communication platform. An answer engine running on the database server may receive the question, and may process the content of the question using natural language processing (NLP) techniques. The answer engine may construct a search query based on the NLP, and may retrieve a set of documents from a database using the search query. The answer engine may rank the documents, prune the number of documents, modify the documents for the given communication platform, or perform any combination of these functions. In some cases, an intermediate user may review the documents, and may select one or more documents for publication. The answer engine may send the selected documents to the end user as answers in response to the question.

Omni-platform question answering system

An application server platform operated by a cloud computing services provider receives input from a customer organization application executing on the application server platform, the input specifying a first action on a first item type, and a second action on a second item type to recommend in response to the specified first action on the first item type. The application server platform searches for a record in a permanent data store that contains the first action, the first item type, the second action, and the second item type, and assigns a value to a token associated with the record based on when the application server platform most recently generated a recommendation that included the first action on the first item type and the second action on the second item type from the record, when the search locates the record in the permanent data store. One embodiment further comprises generating a current recommendation that includes the first action on the first item type and the second action on the second item type from the located record, based on the assigned value of the token associated with the located record.

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for collaborative filtering in a cloud based computing environment

A method of providing feed information is provided. The method comprises calculating an affinity score for each information source that provides updates to an information feed for a first user of a social networking system wherein the affinity score for each information source is calculated based on interaction factors between the first user and the information source. The method further comprises assigning a transparency value to each information source by converting the affinity score to a transparency value, generating the information feed of the social networking system for the first user wherein the information feed includes updates from the information sources, sending the information feed and the transparency value for each information source to a web browser operated by the first user, and instructing the web browser to display each update at a transparency level that corresponds to the transparency value assigned to the information source that provided the update.
