The present invention includes multifunctional compositions, methods and binding systems to provide disinfecting and deodorizing coatings for hard and soft surfaces, inorganic and organic solid surfaces and particulate media and other related substrates, including human and animal skin and skin lesions; to provide neutralizing functions for malodors generated by both human, animal and industrial fluids and solid wastes; and to provide neutralizing and degrading functions for nuisance and noxious chemicals. The present invention provides compositions and methods for producing disinfecting, oxidizing and enzyme-inhibiting fluids enabling preparation of durable, stable biocidal and deodorizing coatings and media which can be widely used for biological agent control, prevention and elimination of odors, and degradation of noxious agents susceptible to chemical oxidation, and which take forms that are inoffensive to users and offer high convenience.

Antimicrobial compositions and methods with novel polymeric binding system

The subject invention discloses curable polymeric N-halamine precursors which are useful for forming an antimicrobial surface coating on an object or article of manufacture. The present invention more specifically reveals a cross-linkable, water soluble polymer which is particularly useful for coating substrates and which can be activated to provide such substrates with antimicrobial and/or odor reducing characteristics, said cross-linkable polymer being comprised of amine, amide, or imide group containing repeat units and epoxide or methylol group containing repeat units, wherein the ratio of amine, amide or imide group containing repeat units to epoxide or methylol group containing repeat units is at least 2:1.

Disinfecting and deodorizing compositions and methods with novel polymeric binding system

The invention relates to polymeric systems for stabilizing, storing and delivering hypohalide salts. One system consists of material coated with two layers: one prepared from polyethylene glycol epoxide and melamine solution and second prepared from inorganic hypohalide salt solution. The material can be fabric, cotton, bamboo, cellulosic materials, blend of cellulosic and synthetic fibers. Antimicrobial materials comprising this system are also described. Another system consists of material containing pre-formed spaces coated with water-polyethylene glycol solution of hypohalide salt and encapsulated by film forming polymer. Hypohalide salts within both systems are in some cases storage stable for at least three months.

Polymeric systems for delivering hypohalide salts

Polymers and copolymers including a functional polymer component may be used as conventional denture materials. Antifungal materials may be releasably bound to the functional polymer component such that the antifungal materials may be slowly eluted over an extended period of time to combat a fungal infection.
