Automotive side impact protection

A deployable interior door trim for an automotive vehicle that separates in the middle section to separate the lower door trim portion from the armrest. The separating door trim permits a pelvis pusher block to engage the occupant of the vehicle during side impact situations without pushing the armrest into the abdomen region of the occupant. An alternative embodiment has the separation area formed as a line extending around a deployable portion of the door trim corresponding to the pelvis pusher block so that the pusher block can pass through the door trim to engage the occupant pelvis area. Preventing excessive abdomen rib deflections on crash dummies will improve performance ratings in IIHS side impact tests without requiring a structural change in the energy absorbing door structure of the vehicle.

Deployable trim for side impact system in automobiles

An automatic frying apparatus () for both deep and shallow frying. Frying apparatus () comprises a container () having an inner cylindrical wall () installed on the central bottom thereof, so as to emanate from the bottom to substantially the upper portion of container () for holding foods and oil, a lid () covering on top of container (), a plurality of stirring blades () rotatably and removably installed inside container () for stirring foods, a power-drive assembly () operationally coupled with blades () for driving blades () through repeating stirring cycles, a coupling device () for coupling in between assembly () and blades (), a venting device () for filtering and deodorizing cooking fumes, and a blowing device () for forcing fresh air into frying apparatus () for moisture removal from thereinside. Blades () sweep across food pieces intermittently, such that blades () dwell for a predetermined dwell period starting near the end of each stirring cycle. This intermittent operation favors better agitation of food pieces and affords relief from constant stirring of food pieces at a higher speed. Food pieces are partially immersed in the boiling oil, and therefore, less oil is required for frying foods, thereby, causing less energy consumption, less fat absorption by the food, less time for cooking, and less used oil for disposal. The frying process is fully automatic and requires minimal human involvement and chore.

Automatic frying apparatus for both deep and shallow frying

An automotive body includes a floor pan and a door for accessing a passenger compartment, a cross member attached to the floor pan and extending laterally under the floor pan, and a longitudinally extending frame rail underlying the floor and cross member. A flexible tensile member fastened between the frame rail and the cross member arrests lateral displacement of the door relative to the frame rail resulting from side impact upon the door.

Automotive body side impact control system

An automobile includes a door, inner and outer rocker panels, and a floor pan joined to the inner rocker panel. A structural frame extends under the body. A frame standoff member is mounted to the inner rocker panel and extends inboard to a frame rail. The frame standoff member is separated from the frame rail by a clearance gap. Once the gap is closed due to lateral deformation of the door, rocker panels, and floor pan, the frame standoff member will resist further deformation of the door and rocker panels without dynamically coupling the door or rocker panels to the frame rail during normal operation of the vehicle.

Automotive vehicle with enhanced lateral collision intrusion resistance

An automotive body includes inner and outer rocker panels, a floor pan joined to the inner rocker panel, and cross members extending laterally across a portion of the body. The cross members have energy-absorbing cross member extensions interposed between outboard ends of the cross members and the inner rocker panel, so as to provide a structure for absorbing impact loads imposed laterally upon the vehicle body.
