The application discloses a tuner and a method for tuning a signal. The tuner comprises: a sampling module, the sampling module being configured to receive an input signal and a set of control signals, sample the input signal under the control of the set of control signals and generate a sample signal; wherein each of the set of control signals has a control period equal to (N*T), and the control periods of the set of control signals synchronize with each other; a set of weighting modules, wherein each of the set of weighting modules is configured to receive the set of sample signals and weight the received sample signals with a group of weighting factors to generate a group of weighted signals; and one or more summing modules, each summing module being configured to receive one group of weighted signals generated by one of the set of weighting modules and sum the group of weighted signals to output an output signal, wherein the output signal is the input signal being shifted by a predefined frequency f*m/N.

Fractional mixer based tuner and tuning method

A mixer includes a weighting module configured to receive an input signal and to weight the input signal with a set of weighting factors, in order to generate a set of weighted signals; and a switching module configured to receive the set of weighted signals and at least a portion of 2N periodic control signals, wherein each of the periodic control signals has a period of 2N*Tvco which contains a pulse with a pulse width not greater than Tvco; wherein the pulses of the 2N periodic control signals do not overlap with each other; and whereby the switching module outputs the set of weighted signals cyclically, under the control of the received periodic control signals, to generate an output signal with a frequency shift of m/(2N*Tvco), where Tvco denotes a period of a VCO signal, N and m are integers, 0&#x3c;m&#x3c;N, compared with the input signal.

Signal mixing method and mixer

The invention provides an adaptive harmonic rejection (HR) receiving device, including a low noise amplification module; at least one HR mixer; at least one non-harmonic rejection (NHR) frequency mixer; and a control device. A received signal passes through the low noise amplification, and then passes through the at least one HR mixer or the at least one NHR mixer; the control device measures a receiving signal strength index (RSSI) after the received signal passes through the at least one HR mixer or the NHR mixer, and selects an NHR mixer or an appropriate HR mixer for the received signal according to a result of the measurement. The adaptive HR receiving device of the present invention is capable of adaptively judging whether to implement HR or determining which HR to implement according to features of the received signal, thereby improving the reception flexibility and reception performance.
