This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to enhanced power management. A device may identify one or more first radio frequency waves received from a second device during a time period. The device may determine a first transmission power associated with a first radio frequency wave of the one or more first radio frequency waves. The device may determine a time-averaged power density associated with the one or more first radio frequency waves. The device may determine a transmission power limit. The device may send an indication of the transmission power limit to the second device.

Enhanced power management for wireless communications

A wireless communication device includes one or more processors, configured to determine one or more first transmission power measurements within a first transmission power measurement sampling period; calculate a first transmission power factor, the first transmission power factor representing a central tendency of the one or more first transmission power measurements from the first power measurement sampling period; determine a second power measurement during a second transmission power measurement sampling period; and calculate a second transmission power factor, wherein the second transmission power factor is a central tendency of at least one of the one or more first power measurements and the second power measurement.

Time averaging for specific absorption rate and power density

Example wirelessly powered unmanned aerial vehicles and tracks for providing wireless power are described herein. An example apparatus includes a track section having a transmitter coil to generate an alternating magnetic field and an unmanned aerial vehicle having a receiver coil. The alternating magnetic field induces an alternating current in the receiver coil when the unmanned aerial vehicle is disposed in the alternating magnetic field.

Methods and apparatus for high speed location determinations are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least two coils arranged along a zone of interest to generate a magnetic field, and a sensor to measure a change in the magnetic field associated with the at least two coils as an object of interest moves within or into the zone of interest. The example apparatus also includes a processor to determine a position of the object of interest based on the measured change.

Methods and apparatus for high speed location determinations

A sensor system can include a sensor coil and a sensor coupled to the sensor coil. The sensor coil can include coil portions that generate signals based on magnetic coupling induced in the coil portions by a receiving coil device (e.g., a NFC tag) and magnetic distortion induced in the coil portions by magnetic coupling of a power transmitting unit (PTU). The sensor can reduce the magnetic distortion induced in the first and the second coil portions by the PTU, detect the receiving coil device based the first and the second signals, and control the PTU based on the detected receiving coil device.

An example apparatus includes a first coil to generate a first magnetic field having a first vertical component with a zero magnitude along a first line of interest and a second coil partially overlapped with the first coil, where the second coil is to generate a second magnetic field. The example apparatus also includes a sensor to measure a magnitude of the first magnetic field in the first line of interest and a processor to determine an object of interest has crossed the first line of interest based on the magnitude of the first magnetic field measured by the sensor.

Systems and methods for sensing angular displacement between body segments of users include disposing an electromagnetic transmitting sensor about a first body segment and an electromagnetic receiving sensor about a second body segment. Embodiments related to systems, methods, and computer-readable media to enable a power transmit unit (PTU) device are described. Method and apparatus for PTU detection of NFC devices

In a wireless charging device that includes a resonator having coil windings, a magnetic field can be generated by the resonator. The wireless charging device can include a feed point connected to an inner winding of the coil windings of the resonator. The resonator can inductively couple with a power receiving unit such that the an outer winding of the coil windings limit Eddy current generation in one or more conductive surfaces positioned adjacent to the power receiving unit. The feed point can be selectively connected to the inner winding of the coil in a first mode of operation and the outer winding of the coil in a second mode of operation. The inner winding can have a larger current than the outer winding.

Uniform wireless charging device

A vehicular inductive power transfer system includes a power transmission unit and a power receiving unit. The distance between the units and the overall alignment of the units with respect to each other determines the overall efficiency of the energy transfer between the power transmission unit and the power receiving unit. Magnetic fields produced by the inductive power transfer system may exceed allowable standards or regulations for human exposure to electromagnetic fields. An inductive power transfer control circuit autonomously causes an actuator to position at least one of the power transmission unit or the power receiving unit in a three-dimensional space based on one or more measured power transfer parameters. Such positioning may occur while the vehicle is moving or stationary. The control circuit may further autonomously adjust one or more power transfer parameters to maintain magnetic field exposure levels at or below industry standards or governmental regulations.

Vehicular inductive power transfer systems and methods

Techniques for focusing an energy radiated by a wireless power transmitting unit are described. An example power transmitting unit includes a transmit coil configured to generate a magnetic field to wirelessly power a device within an active wireless charging area. The power transmitting unit also includes a power generating circuitry to deliver a current to the transmit coil to generate the magnetic field. The power transmitting unit also includes a patch array disposed in parallel with the transmit coil to reduce a strength of the magnetic field at frequencies outside of the operating frequency during operation of the power transmitting unit.

Shield for a wireless power transmitter

An apparatus is described herein. The apparatus includes a power transmit unit coil and an active shielding coil. The power transmit unit coil includes a set of main windings, positioned at a first location on a structure, to carry a first current in a first direction, wherein the first current is to cause an electromagnetic field to emanate from the power transmit unit coil. The active shielding coil is positioned at a second location on the structure and is to carry a second current in a direction substantially opposite the first direction wherein the second current is to cause a reduction of the size of the electromagnetic field.

Wireless charging coil placement for reduced field exposure

Techniques for modifying the electrical current distribution of transmit coil of a wireless power transmitting unit are described. An example power transmitting unit includes a transmit coil configured to generate a magnetic field to wirelessly power a device within an active wireless charging area. The power transmitting unit can also include a power source to transmit an alternating electrical current to an input terminal of the transmit coil and a plurality of reactive elements placed in series with the transmit coil. In some examples, the plurality of reactive elements attach to the transmit coil at least a quarter of a turn from the input terminal. The power transmitting unit can also include a controller to modify a reactance value of the reactive elements to adjust a current distribution of the transmit coil in response to detecting a characteristic of a power receiving unit.
