A hydraulic vibration damper for motor vehicles comprising a cylinder ( ) containing damping fluid and a sealed, axially displaceable piston rod ( ) that plunges into said cylinder. A damping piston ( ) is secured to the lower end of the piston rod and divides the cylinder area into two working areas ( ). Said damping piston is provided with passages that can be modified and which are controlled by throttle valve bodies, in addition to a bypass for the pressure and traction stage, whereby the cross-section of the bypass is adjusted by an electrovalve that functions in three or more stages and the toroid coil more or less opens a valve slide ( ), whereupon two or more bypass openings are released in a successive manner. The inventive damper is designed in such a way disruptive influences caused by constantly changing hydraulic forces arising from the flow of the damping agent are reduced when the flow from the bypass channels is shifted or controlled. At least the first bypass channel ( ) that is released when the valve slide ( ) is in a closed position has a contraction ( ) that is 8J, located at a distance from the valve slide ( ).

Hydraulic vibration damper for motor vehicles

A seal for hydraulically sealing a piston rod (1) that travels axially into and out of a holder, preferably a hydraulic shock absorber. A sealing component (11) of elastic plastic has one edge (12) resting against the piston rod, tensioned over an elastomeric component, and accommodated along with that component in a sealing chamber (10). The object is to simplify the seal, reduce friction, and ensure that it will work even at very low temperatures. The tension is accordingly generated by two rings (13 & 14) of packing cord positioned diagonally opposite each other in the cross-section of the chamber. The rings, as long as they are not tensioned against each other, against the inner surface of the chamber, and against the back (15) of the sealing component, occupy most of the space inside the chamber.

Seal

A proportional valve for a hydraulic dashpot, with a piston that slides back and forth on the end of a piston rod in a shock-absorbing cylinder. The piston is provided with pressure-sensitive valves for the exchange of fluid during suction and compression states and separates the cylinder into two compartments. Passages are provided for the fluid that applies pressure to the valves to flow through. Space that communicates with whichever compartment it faces and supplies regulating pressure to the particular shock-absorbing valve is provided on the side of the shock-absorbing valve that faces away from the passages. The piston is mounted on a control bolt. The control bolt has two valve seats and two bypass systems. One seat is associated with an electromagnetic spool accommodated in the first bypass system and chokes the fluid flowing through it. The other seat is accommodated in the second bypass system and associated with a tappet that slides back and forth inside the spool and controls the flow of fluid through the second bypass system. The pressurized space on the side of the shock-absorbing valve facing away from the passages communicates through the second bypass system with whatever compartment that happens to face it.

Proportional valve with a variable performance curve

An adjustable strut (1) for motor vehicles. It includes a dashpot that comprises a piston accommodated in a shock-absorbing cylinder (2) accommodated in a helical spring (7). The piston divides the shock-absorbing cylinder into two chambers and is attached to a rod (8). The rod extends out of the shock-absorbing cylinder through an alignment-and-sealing package at one end. The rod is articulated to the wheel mass or carriagework at one end and the shock-absorbing cylinder to the complementary component at the other end. The helical spring is secured and tensioned between two cup springs. The first cup spring (5) is attached to the shock-absorbing cylinder by two height-adjustment cylinders that surround the latter concentrically. One height-adjustment cylinder slides in and out inside the other. The second cup spring (6) is attached to the piston rod in the vicinity of its articulation to the wheel mass or carriagework.

Adjustable strut for motor vehicles

The invention concerns a regulable shock-absorption valve system for the dashpot in a motor vehicle. It has two shock-absorption valves. Each valve consists of an electromagnetic bolt that slides back and forth and operates in conjunction with at least one port and of a pressure-sensitive valve for the suction stage and for the compression stage, mutually coaxially accommodated in an essentially cylindrical housing and capable of communicating by way of hydraulic-fluid channels. The pressure-sensitive valves (7 & 8) in accordance with the present invention rest on a simple or complex component (15) with its ends permanently or temporarily secured in a bore that extends through the center of the pole cores (17 & 18) of the electromagnets (11) that actuate the bolts (5 & 6). The advantages of the present invention are direct transmission of the shock-absorption forces and simpler assembly of the system.

Regulable shock-absorption valve system for the dashpot in a motor

A regulable hydraulic dashpot for motor vehicles with a shock-absorption piston equipped with pressure-sensitive throttle valves traveling back and forth on the end of a piston rod inside a shock-absorption cylinder full of shock-absorbing fluid and dividing the cylinder into two displacement chambers. A gas-filled pressure-compensation chamber operates in conjunction with one displacement chamber. A shock-absorption performance-curve selection valve is positioned outside the cylinder and opens and closes a bypass. To create a hydraulic-fluid channel, the cylinder comprises two parts of different width between the two displacement chambers. One of the parts overlaps the other to the length of the stroke traveled by the piston and its open end is sealed tight to the outer part. The outer part is provided with two hydraulic-fluid conveying connections into the shock-absorption performance-curve selection valve. The parts of the cylinder between the connections are sealed off from each other by a sealing component.

Hydraulic cylinder sealing structure

A sensor for measuring the difference between the velocity and/or position of a vibration-suppressing cylinder and that of a piston connected to a piston rod and moving back and forth inside the cylinder in a dashpot for motor vehicles. The sensor consists of a permanent magnet and of a winding in the form of a cylindrical coil and operating in conjunction with the magnet. The magnet is connected directly or indirectly to one of the mutually moving components and the winding is connected directly or indirectly to the other. The component that the magnet (5) rests against and the component that the winding (7) rests against constitute a complete circuit that carries the magnet's field.

Sensor for measuring the difference between the velocity of a cylinder

A regulable hydraulic dashpot for motor vehicles. It features a shock-absorbing piston (1) and a shock-absorbing cylinder (2). The piston travels into and out of the cylinder on a rod (21). The piston divides the cylinder into two hydraulics compartments (3 & 4). The piston accommodates constrictions that incorporate pressure-sensitive valves (26 & 27). The piston has at least one bypass port. A system of (34) of electromagnetically operated valves reroutes the bypass ports in accordance with whether the dashpot is in the suction state or the compression phase. The object is continuous regulation of the level of shock absorption in a dashpot, rapid response to frequent actuation, an easy-to-establish base line, and a simple design. A slide-valve bolt (13) is associated with the routing (5, 9, 10, & 6) of the bypass during the suction phase. Another slide-valve bolt (14) is associated with its routing (6, 8, and 7) during the compression phase. Each slide-valve bolt is subject to a spring (11 & 12) that forces it to maintain the bore closed. The bolts accommodate pilot reservoirs (15 & 16) that are provided with hydraulic fluid through a port in the bolt from whichever hydraulics compartment is pressurized. The pilot reservoirs communicate through a hydraulic-fluid line (17). The line can be opened and closed to various extents by an electromagnetically controlled bolt (18). Fluid flows out of the pilot reservoir in whichever slide-valve bolt is subjected to pressure through the port in whichever slide-valve bolt is not subjected to pressure.

Controllable hydraulic vibration dampener

A variable dashpot for motor vehicles. It comprises a vibration-suppressing piston-and-cylinder mechanism. The cylinder contains displacement fluid. The piston divides the cylinder into two displacement compartments. The piston has a piston rod attached to it. The piston is provided with pressure-dependent valves that vary the level of vibration suppression. The vibration-suppression valve system has two vibration-suppressing valves (2) accommodated in alignment in a cylindrical valve housing (1). Each vibration-suppressing valve consists of an axially displaced electromagnetic plunger (5 or 6) that operates in conjunction with at least one outlet (3 or 4) and of at least one pressure-sensitive valve (7 or 8) on stream parallel or in alignment with the plunger.

Controllable vibration damper for motor vehicles

The invention concerns a one-tube or two-tube shock-absorbing leg for the chassis of a motor vehicle. It has a sensor that measures the difference between the speed of the vehicle's body and that of its axis. The sensor comprises a winding and a permanent magnet. The sensor is accommodated such that the shock-absorbing leg's helical spring cannot affect the results.
