A configuration helper system (CHS) is described that simplifies the task of generating configuration information for a customer premises equipment (CPE) in a customer's on-premise network to enable the CPE to communicate with the customer's cloud network over a particular communication channel. The CHS is configured to generate configuration information that is customized for the particular CPE and communication channel. Given information about the CPE and the communication channel, the CHS automatically identifies a particular set of configuration parameters to be included in the customized configuration information and determines values for the set of parameters, where some of the values may be provided by the customer. A particular CPE-specific format is determined for the configuration information. Customized configuration information for the CPE is then generated in the determined format, where the generated configuration information includes the set of parameters and their values, and potentially other CPE-specific information.

Techniques for dynamic configuration generation

To provide the continuous playback of content, a content server may provide code to a requesting device that causes the requesting device to play streaming content delivered in chunks or other portions without disruption in playback. The requesting device may execute the code by a browser or other application, which may cause the requesting device to determine whether a data buffer is empty or nearly empty and request additional content from a streaming server if the data buffer is empty or nearly empty. The process may be repeated a number of times each second for the duration of the playback of the content in order to enable continuous playback of the content regardless of any throttling of the code execution or content playback attempted to be imposed by a browser or other application.

Disclosed are various embodiments for browser-based scanning and matching of media items. Files identified by a user via a user interface element rendered by a browser are read by the browser, which can generate a fingerprint associated with the files. The fingerprint can be transmitted to a media scan service, which can provide an indication of whether the files match a media item maintained by a media storage service.

Methods, data structures, and systems are provided for encoding communication data. The methods allow an application to compose communication data in any language and using any characters it wishes. One method constructs a Bitmask Table that includes Bitmask Character Values for each character represented in a national character where the Bitmask Character Value represents which National Character Set among a group of National Character Sets can be used to encode communication data containing a particular character, with adjustments for characters represented in East-Asian Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) languages. Another method encodes the communication data, by utilizing the Bitmask Table, in a format that conforms to data communication standards and interoperates with most third party recipient clients worldwide.

Method of selecting character encoding for international e-mail messages

Methods and systems are provided for providing history support in a stateless Web-based application. These methods and systems allow a browser to interface with one or multiple data frames via a common history frame that facilitates providing navigation history support and facilitates rendering data to the browser user interface. By utilizing the common history frame, the methods and systems of the present invention provide navigation history capabilities in a stateless Web-based application.
